Teams: Robbie, Maciej, Patrick and Moyra vs. Jordan, Neil, Peter and Tommy. Score: a 10-9 scrape out for Jordan's turntious blues. Game Rating (out of 10): 8 - First game with tackle, turnout disappointing. Notable absentees: James, Ezra, Alex, Jacob, Jordan T., Josh, Graham. Offensive Player of the Game: Patrick. Made the clutch snag. Defensive Player of the Game: Peter. Did nothing embarassing. Special Teams Player of the Game: Neil. Rumbled for kickoff touchdowns. Pitch and Weather: Snow! After Toronto's first real snowfall in over a year, the FFL convened and made the best out of a relatively poor turnout. The snow, nearly waist deep if one was Josh, made for slow goings, but nice tackles. It was cold, but not overly so. Summary: The first (and quite possibly only) tackle game of the season was entertaining. Those who did show up gave it their best, with a nice 4 on 4 effort. The game went back and forth before Jordan rumbled past Moyra after 7 steamboats for the game winner. Bogus Moment of the Day - Maciej's run between 4 defenders was nice, as was Tommy's nice near-bobble-turned-catch, but nothing could beat the tackle affairs that resounded. Patrick jumping on Jordan, Maciej diving on Neil, Peter destroying Tommy. It was all painful goodness. Those who didn't show up should rue their decisions like nobody's business. Player Ratings (out of 10, 4 being the lowest):
Robbie - 9; Nice all around game from the Dash lookalike. Put up big numbers. Maciej - 6.5; Tired, but not surprising considering he was up since 6 am this morning. Patrick - 9; Offensively solid, defensively unspectacular. Getting better, cast now a memory. Jordan - 8; Rushed well, using his size to hold off numerous tackles. Neil - 8.5; Had an incredible start, fading with time. But not too much; put up solid stats. Tommy - 7; Nice catch for his touchdown, but was burned by Pat 4 times. Peter - 8; Got the ball, and found seams to exploit. Underrated intangibles. Moyra - 6; Not bad. Not bad at all. The legend continues? |
