Teams: Alex D., Matthew Soegtrop, Conal, Patrick and Robbie vs. Owen, Danielle, Maciej, James, Moyra and Tommy
Final Score: 16-11 for Alex D. and the rest. Game Rating (out of 10): 9 - very slow start, better after Moyra's arrival. Offensive Player of the Game: Patrick. Although Robbie scored 15 touchdowns, Patrick was an absolutely brutalizing factor versus Owen's side. His offence prowess enabled him to become the go-to receiver on a squad already stacked with great receivers. No mahoney's and a number of highlight and clutch plays. Dekes were superb. Defensive Player of the Game: James. Enormously potent effort from said Jamesward. Not only did he break numerous plays, he also managed to subdue the normally dominant Alex D. to only 1 receiving touchdown. Special Teams Player of the Game: Maciej. 2 kickoff touchdowns, as well as a number of dangerous runs, gave Owen's side a bit of life down the stretch. Pitch and Weather: Absolutely gorgeous weather. The field was blanketed in snow, the wind subsided for the majority of the game and the fallance of snow was pleasant. The fallance only had one hindrance; visibility for quarterbacks was an issue. However, the weather permitted a long game, wherein people were surprised to hear that it was already 6 o'clock. Yet, noone really wanted to stop. If you ask Tommy, he'll tell you that there the field was still covered in ice, as he fell on numerous occasions. He laughed it off though, but not after crying profusely like an ant that lost its motorhome to a card playing giraffe. Summary: The game had one of the slowest starts ever recorded. James pointedly pissed off nearly everyone on his squad, and even his opponents. At one point, he was seen chasing Robbie around the baseball diamond whilst his team was ready to start the play! Coincidentally, they scored their first touchdown on that game. Owen remarked that Jamesward is a bad luck charm. Maciej agreed nonhalfheartedly. James must've heard them both, and he turned out to be an entirely different player after that. He stepped up the intensity, and so did the game. The arrival of not yet aforementioned Moyra added more flair to an already escalating showdown. Robbie continued a quarterback dominance over Maciej, and never failed to remind Maciej of his various fumbles and screwups. Owen's team made it close, but Robbie simply had too good of a receiving core for any one team to handle. Rob spread the ball around beautifully, focusing particularly on Patrick and little Matt. Tommy slipped on numerous occassions, including a burnage by aforementioned Patrick. James wore gloves for the first time ever, Alex yelled at Moyra on one occasion and Danielle refused to wear her gloves after a couple of bumbles in the endzone. I think Alex was planning the downfall of one Dario Rodriguez, but he may have just been tying his shoelace. Bogus Moment of the Day - Tommy's slippage on the ice after Pat's deke. Funniest moment ever. Player Ratings (out of 10, 4 being the lowest): Matthew S - 8.5; very elusive and dangerous. Ask Tom and Danielle. James - 8; fantastic second half, on both the offensive and defensive ends. Had he played a better first half, he would've gotten a 10. Robbie - 9; 15 passing touchdowns. Need I say anymore? Patrick - 9.5; was the most dominant receiver on a stacked receiving corps. Maciej - 6; another poor outing, but did well on kickoff returns. Danielle - 7; solid performance marred by a few noticeable mahoneys. Conal - 8.5; great on both ends, the interception machine of the FFL. Tommy - 8; the "Hand of Tom" was out in full force on Friday. Alex D. - 6.5; was unfortunate to be covered by a re-energized James. Owen - 6.5; limited by the fact that he could not run. Solid at QB. Moyra - 7; added some spark to a struggling squad. |
