Teams: Patrick, Maciej, James, Alex J., Matthew Soegtrop, and Chloe. vs. Owen, Alex D., Lenny, Tommy, Robbie, Matthew Couto and Dylan
Final Score: 14-11 for Patrick and the rest Game Rating (out of 10): 10 - a big turnout resulted in a great game. Offensive Player of the Game: A tough call, as there were many offensive stalwarts in this game. However, by scoring 4 touchdowns and playing the role of go-to receiver on the winning side, the honor goes to Matthew Soegtrop. Defensive Player of the Game: Not a tough call in this case, as Alex D. was by far the most dominating offensive player on either side. The Hand of Tom reincarnated as the Hand of Alex was one hell of a play. Special Teams Player of the Game: Dylan, the only one with a kickoff return touchdown on the day. Pitch and Weather: Fern Avenue field was covered in ice on its left northeastern windula side. In other words, one half of the goddamn field was covered in terrible ice. Did that stop a good game? Hell no. It was freezing, a cool -10 without the windchill factor. Patches of grass seen for the first time in a few months. Summary: The game started off well and ended just as well. Only Robbie and Patrick's whiny, "I hafta shleep ovah" comments nullified what turned out to be the best game of the 2005 FFL season. Prior to these game ending comments, the game be good. It super be good. The addition of first Dylan, then the duo of Chloe and Couto, added flavor to an already flavorish game. The plays were quickly called by both quarterbacks, special mention going to Owen who ran the game incredibly well for his side. Suprisingly, there were little to no interruptions in between plays, making it a fast and rough game. A couple of times, there were slips on the ice tundra that was at least half the Fern Avenue Field. Tommy hurt his knees I think. James liked to complain about pancakes, global warming and a lack of receptions for touchdowns. Alex D. stepped up and shut down his namesake (minus the D, add a J) incredibly well. Maciej threatened Alex D., said Alex flipped said Maciej off. It was generally a close game, until Chloe joined the winning side, giving quarterback Macie another strong receiving option. This was needed, partially because Maciej had refused to throw to whiny McPat, who criticized nearly every throw that he had not been able to catch for a TD. Nevertheless, Tommy wore the same coat minus the hat and gloves. Lenny looked like a cold Harry Potter, and claimed he had Hermione in his bedroom to later warm him up -- go Lenny, go Lenny, go Lenny! (woop woop) Bogus Moment of the Day - Nothing in particular, but there were a few injuries. Tommy hurt his knees, or leg, or breastplate, or pelvis. Robbie slipped on the ice and refused to cry; later on, he dabbed his eyes on a tissue and had some tea. Dylan and Owen's runs on the ice patch were nothing less than daring, bordering on idiotic, yet successful (both resulted in a trot around the baseball diamond fence and a TD). Player Ratings (out of 10, 1 being the lowest): Matthew C. - 8; Solid offensively, but coverage of Chloe was weak. James - 5; better than last time, defense was there, but not the offence. Robbie - 6.5; 'robobrick' was the highlight of Robbie's quiet game. Patrick - 7.5; 4 touchdowns, but faded as the game went on. Maciej - 9; stepped it up immensely on both the offensive and defensive ends Alex J. - 5; had a couple of good catches, but was unable to shake coverage. Matthew S. - 8; four touchdowns, was again go-to guy for Maciej. Tommy - 6; great interception, but was invisible otherwise. Nice coat. Alex D. - 9.5; one of the best overall displays ever in the FFL. Owen - 8; solid at quarterback, even better on the ground. Defence solid. Lenny - 5.5; a much better player when not frozen solid. Needs jacket. Chloe - 9; 4 touchdowns in the last half of the game; supersub! Dylan - 7; No questions on offense, but was burned on defence. |
