| GAME RECAP - FHL - FEBRUARY 16, 2009 Participants - Players - Jordan D., Jordan T., Alex Jarzy, James, Peter, Neil Goalies - Maciej, Patrick Played at - Gareena. Offensive Player of the Game - Alex Jarzy - give him an inch, he'll take the entire yard. Defensive Player of the Game - Neil - domination in front and around his own net. Best Goal - Peter firing a patented slap shot past a helpless Patrick. After working hard to rid the opponents from in front of his net, Peter took a backhand pass from Jordan D. at the point and wired a one-timer that a padded buffalo couldn't have stopped. Best Goalkeeper - Maciej over Patrick. Patrick wasn't bad, but Maciej's stand-up goaltending proved to be very effective. Controlled his 'bounds well, and didn't give up any soft goals. Best Save - Patrick, firing out a blocker to deny a firefly wrister from sniper Alex Jarzy. Best Deke - Peter around a confused looking James. Peter, not known for his offensive prowess, showed that his hands aren't made of the same material as sidewalks. Rather, Peter made an elegant head-fake on James, who bought like a monkey at a banana festival, and tipped the ball past and into the open. Best Pass - Peter, this time with a tape to tape, zone to zone snap pass that ended in a goal. With the opponents getting lazy, Peter looked up, saw an open Jordan T., and whipped a quick firestarter onto the tape of his teammate. The move caught everyone by surprise, allowing Jordan T. to slip a sweet cross crease pass to James, who made no mistake. Biggest 'Robbie' - Jordan D., with an open net, pointed to the sky and said "This is for you, he who lacks mid-forehead fuzz," and missed. Biggest 'Neil' - James, who after denying that his lack of depth perception was hurting his game, fired a shot from an impossible angle 30 metres straight into the air and against a neighboring house window. James' bogus Moment - James, right after the above play, still denying that he was the sole existing cyclops in the world. "Come on guys, I've got lots of depth perception," he said to the Garden tree, while the rest of us watched. Ratings (4 lowest, 10 highest) - Jordan D. - 9; Much better, probably due to increased confidence. Shot had wicked movement. Patrick - 8.5; Still very good, despite the fact that his pokecheck was very inconsistent. Maciej - 9; Used sheer bulk to provide a small target for shooters. Shook off soft goals. Jordan T. - 9; Passed and stickhandled with equal effectiveness. Peter - 9.5; Starting to fire up the laser beam of a shot. Much like Schenn, has a hidden offensive game. Neil - 9.5; Stymied, frustrated, pissed off opponents to the tenth degree. Alex Jarzy - 8.5; Great offensively, terrible defensively. But who scores more often? James - 8; Fought off criticism and had a very good game. Powered his goals in to the net. |
