| Game Recap - FHL - April 9, 2008 Participants - Players - Jordan D., Josh, Ben (Robbie goalie) vs. Maciej, Neil, Patrick, and James (Taylor goalie) - victory 22-19 for Maciej et al. Played at - Gareena, home of the (ah, so sweet) dry corners. Offensive Player of the Game - Josh - impossible to contain, despite his small size. Defensive Player of the Game - Neil - long reach let him get into tight spots. Best Shotblock/Save - Fantastic full stretch save by Taylor. Looked Toskalicious on that one. Even Jordan, the one who shot the ball, was shaking his head at that one. Best Goal - James, finishing a great pass from Maciej with soft hands. So...soft. Best Goalkeeper - Taylor over Robbie. Taylor kept his team ahead, and in it, when the offensive onslaught from Jordan's talented squad started the full rink press. Best Deke - Jordan D. around Neil, a flip backhand smack that he claimed, "added to his arsenal." Best Pass - Maciej to James, a breakaway effort that was tape to tape. Gorgeous. Biggest 'Robbie' - Jordan D., missing the net on a bouncing ball. All alone too. Could've been the game decider. Biggest 'Neil' - Ben firing a slapshot into the parked cars. Best Fashion Sense - Maciej, wearing a Chicago Hawks jersey. At least they have a future. Worst Fashion Sense - James, apparently dresses himself with a blindfold on. The James Moment - Shouts of 2 on 2, as random clearances forced "timeouts" for people to hunt down loose balls. Ratings (4 lowest, 10 highest) - Jordan - 7; Scored a fair share, but not his usual dominant self. Patrick - 8; Played a good shutdown game after a rocky start. Maciej - 8; His scoring is going up, and the passing clinic was open. Taylor - 9; Excellent, about as good as you can get between the pipes. Robbie - 6; Struggled with rebounds and long shots. Ben - 6; Gave the ball up in his own zone. Shot was way off. Josh - 8; The waterbug ran 10,000 metres in about 2 hours. James - 8; Very good hands in front of the net, translated into a goal scoring frenzy. Neil - 9.5; Probably player of the game. His defence was impeccable when it mattered. |
