| Game Recap - FHL - April 15, 2008 Participants - Players - Jordan D., Robbie, Neil and Patrick (goalie) vs. Maciej, Jordan T., James and Taylor (goalie) Score - 30-29 in favor of Jordan D's squad. Played at - Gareena, home of the (ah, so sweet) dry corners. Offensive Player of the Game - Jordan D. - dominant in and around the crease. Defensive Player of the Game - Neil - as usual, he's there to stop the plays. Best Shotblock/Save - Taylor, full stretch on a Jordan D. shot. Got his pad out, and made a huge thunking save, with the game tied at 29. Best Goal - Jordan D., stepping around Maciej and firing a top shelf effort against Taylor. Best Goalkeeper - Patrick over Taylor, again. Patrick was incredible, and essentially won this game for his team. He's like a Sergei Varlamov clone; flopping but effectively. Best Deke - see best goal. In fact, that move was so nasty, that Maciej actually offered to go home and never play hockey again. That was sick, wicked, and nasty. Best Pass - Maciej to a streaking Jordan T., who fired it on his backhand past a pinching Pat. Biggest 'Robbie' - Robbie and James tie for this one. In fact, the two shots happenned with seconds of each other. The first came from James, who fired a wrister to the far left of the net. Jordan D. picked up the ball and whipped it up the rink to Robbie, who stopped it and put it into the "shadowlands." Congrats, you are both mooks. Biggest 'Neil' - In what was arguably the biggest Neil of all time, Maciej came up the rink, lowered his centre of gravity, and let loose with the biggest backhand of all time. It went over the green-leaf fence and out into Roncesvalles avenue, never to be seen again. Best Fashion Sense - Maciej - kangaroo pouch is the hip thing nowadays. Worst Fashion Sense - Neil - wore a t-shirt. What is this, mid-june? The James Moment - A number could be classified as bogus. Maciej's backhand, Jordan's deke, the ball ending up in Mac's kangaroo pouch, Pat's ridiculous goaltending, but it all comes to down to one thing - Neil's roars. In fact, by the end of the game, the roars have been all but scientifically classified. There are happy roars, sad roars, confused roars, angry roars and simple mating call roars. Neil does them all in the span of a 2 hour game. He's a marvel of nature. Ratings (4 lowest, 10 highest) - Jordan - 9.5; Seems to have found his stride again. Would've been perfect if not for a few wayward passes. Patrick - 10; Jordan put it best: "Congrats Pat on winning the game for us." Classy work between the pipes. Maciej - 7; Passing tops in the league, but struggled with his shot. Taylor - 8; Excellent in spurts. Kept his team in it near the end. James - 8; A few incredible finishes, including one off the top of the crossbar and in. Neil - 8.5; Powerful defence from the back. What a finish on his only goal, a backhand top shelf. Jordan T. - 8; Good lateral movement, and a scored a fair share. Not afraid to bruise it up in the middle. Robbie - 8; Struggled with his shot early on, but made up for it with excellent forechecking. |
