Game Recap - FHL - April 14, 2008

Participants -
Players - Jordan D., Ben, Josh, Cole and Patrick (goalie) vs. Maciej, Neil, Matthew C., Jordan T., James and Taylor (goalie) - victory for Maciej's squad, 21-19.
Played at - Gareena, home of the (ah, so sweet) dry corners.
Offensive Player of the Game - Jordan T. - moved the ball up the wings.
Defensive Player of the Game - Maciej - kept Cole and Josh away from rebounds.
Best Shotblock/Save - Patrick, a full stretch stop on a Tingle rebound attempt.  After Maciej's initial knuckleballer flew in threw a bunch of sticks and feet, Pat made the save.  However, the rebound he gave up was juicy.  Tingle pounced on it, but was stoned by a starfish-jefferson save by a floppin' Pat.  World class.
Best Goal - Jordan D., turning around a flatfooted Neil and whipping a backhand off the crossbar and in.
Best Goalkeeper - Patrick over Taylor, but barely.  Both goalkeepers were excellent, but Pat was quietly effective down the stretch, and could not be blamed for the goals he let in.
Best Deke - Jordan T. on Jordan D.  Somehow, he managed to get a stick on the ball around Jordan's bulk and flip it around the Italian and break away.  Although Jordan D. claimed that, "he didn't finish," he knew perfectly well how about he just got pwned by his namesake plus the T.  Incredible deke.
Best Pass
- James to Tingle, a beautiful backhand flip that found a streaking Tingle.  Unfortunately, James was admiring his pass for far too long, and missed the give-and-go that Tingle set up for him.
Biggest 'Robbie' - Josh, off the post on an open net.  Taylor was nowhere, and yet Josh somehow missed.
Biggest 'Neil' - Ben, out into the parking lot.
Best Fashion Sense - Josh - looks like he shops in well-lit shops.
Worst Fashion Sense
- James - apparently, he shops with a blindfold on, in the dark, with sunglasses on.
The James Moment
- This was one of the best games to ever be played.  I'll even go as far as saying that this was the best ever, including both FFL and FHL.  But what would a game be without a James moment, involving the man himself?  Upon Tingle's arrival, the teams were unfairly balanced, and to a maintain a 3 on 3, James would have to double sub on one team.  Of course, he didn't want to, so he switched between the teams 6 times before he decided on the original squad he was on.  Eventually, it was all for naught, as a 4on 4 was decided and there was only sub anyway.  The first sub?  You guessed it: James.
Ratings
(4 lowest, 10 highest) -
Jordan - 9; Excellent power down low, and he kept his cheating to a minimum.
Patrick - 9.5; Excellent positioning.  Didn't flop as much and was quietly effective.
Maciej - 8; Offered little offensively but stayed back and got his stick in the way.
Taylor - 9; Again, kept his team in it with a string of marvellous saves.
Ben - 8; Offered a good point shot and solid defence in front of Pat.
Josh - 8; Scored, but would also disappear for long stretches.
James - 8; He found his "soft" hands near the end of the game.
Neil - 8; Again, a pillar of strength at the back.  Some shaky moments, but generally excellent.
Jordan T. - 9; Kept the offense moving.  Great passing from both wings.
Cole - 8; Released his quick wrist shot with excellent accuracy.  Good backchecking.
Matthew C. - 8.5; Scored the most on the winning squad.
