Thursday So This is were everything started for us well for me the line up was to good to miss which is why I chose Reading over the other festivals. So The Thursday came and the mode of transport for me was Dave's Dad's Van for the rest it was the train. The trip down was great apart from mellin takin up all the room. Anyway about three hours later we are their. Rather than camping up close we went all the way to the next field which was waiting to be open anyway after about two hours of waiting about 50 people just barged through, So we got the pick of a empty field class. Once the tents were up we went and got our wristbands sorted then got a burger and had a beer. Me and Mellin then decided to try and pay a visit to the others it would have been easy but they were all that lazy that none of them would come and meet up with us eventually Camp Leader (Daz) was a good lad and after meeting him he led us down to their campin bit it was close to the arena and a good spot well done lads anyway after havin a few beers and telling that woolley was about to kill mellin Thursday was over. Friday Hardly any sleep thursday so it was an eary start Friday luckily it was a hot day nice 12 saw the start of the bands Ooberman were first on the main stage obviousley being lazy gits we didnt go to the mainstage till Doves to prove how difficult it is to get Phil to move Doves are one of his favourite bands and we basically had to drag him their Im sure he enjoyed it though once the effort was made. other highlights in the afternoon were seeing woolley and phil come out of the mosh when Limp Bizkit were on the best way to describe it was that they looked like they had been fighting Mike Tyson. The Bluetones also sounded really good after some food we saw some of Primal Scream they sounded excellent then it was shed seven one of the few brit pop survivors rocked the Session Tent. Then it was back to the main stage for Oasis we were quite far back but still good enough to get a good view I had seen them a month before at Wembley and to be honest this performance was no were near that I thought both Noel And Liam didnt look intrested especially Liam no real conviction but despite that still one of the best bands I saw all weekend. Friday night was spent in the same was as Thursday only this time it was pissin it down all night. Anyway class Friday I must say Saturday Saturday began with it absolutely pissin it down although by about 10 it had slowed enough for us to have a walk into town for supplies expecting it to take about an hour we didnt get back to out tent till about 1 because they werent lettin everyone back in at once they said it was because of the mud yeah right. Anyway first band we saw that day were Gomez definitley one of the highlights next went to see Badly Drawn Boy definitley the best comedy performance of the weekend which included a cover of born in the U.S.A and forgettin his words quite a bit anyway we sat through a crap wannadies to see the headliners Embrace had the place packed out sweat was fallin off the top of the tent people were hanging from the scaffolding and they were excellent. Saturday night got a bit of sleep melling dissaperead like he did every night to see some people he knew or somthing and that was it. Sunday Sunday Rock Day woke up it wasent raining thats good enough Daphne & Celeste what was all that about good to see they got pelted mind surely the front row when they were on was absolutely covered in piss and other shit. Anyway next was Blink 182 we were right at the back and could hardly hear them anyway after a couple of songs went back to the tents. final act to see had to be Ian Brown really good and it was good to see Aziz with him as well it was a shame he only played for 45 minutes and that I had some dodgy woman dancing next to me all the time she mistook Reading for Creamfields I think but anyway Sunday night was class had a few beers got rid of everything on the fire and got a bit of kip at about 5 i think. Got up at about 7:30 it wasent good Dave's dad picked us up and got home about dinner. That was it our first Reading Festival and definitley one to remember bring on next year. |
