Course Description:

Foods and Nutrition 2 is an advanced program designed to provide students with more in depth knowledge of individual and family health, fitness, and wellness. Responsible consumer behavior, ethnic and multicultural foods, healthy meal planning , selection , and preparation, and safety and sanitation will be stressed during guided instruction, independents study and laboratory experiences.

  1. Locate a country for your project. Each student will need a different country. Demonstrations may be done with an assistant or alone. Use the following sites to gather information:
  2. Your report should be presented on poster board, written in a report, and in a Power Point presentation. The following should be included:
    •  Flag 
    • Culture (fashion, religion, customs, beliefs, family life, folk lore etc.)
    • History
    • Climate 
    • Topography 
    • Economy
    • Agricultural products
    • Regional cuisine
    • Places of interest 
    • Unusual dishes
    • Festivals or celebrations
    • Traditional recipes (3)
    • Recipes to prepare for the class
    • Interesting food facts and cooking terms from that country

  3. Each person  will present the information concerning the country via the Power Point presentation to the class with a question and answer session. Each group must demonstrate the preparation of a traditional food for the country with enough food for each class member to sample.
