Family Life 2 Syllabus |
Course Description:This course will guide the student through the stresses each individual must assume to improve family life. The establishment and maintenance of interpersonal relationships, preparation for marriage and family life, and the management of resources to achieve individual and family goals are the focus of this course.Credits:Family life 2 is a semester course. It is currently taught opposite Parenthood Education 2. Completion of this course will earn one-half elective credit toward graduation. |

Students will work on a number of projects and classroom assignments in the classroom and in the computer lab. All work should be turned in the day the assignment is due. Class work will count one-third of the grade while tests and projects will count the other two-thirds of the grade. Exams count 20%.
Since this is a semester class, a student may only have three unexcused absences and still receive credit for the course.
It is your responsibility to ask for any assignments that are missed due to absence or school sponsored field trip. Remember, that you have the number of days you were absent, plus one to make up the work. All make up work is to be done from 7:30AM to 8:00AM or between the hours of 3:00PM and 4:00PM.
Class Rules:

Introduction:
The purpose of this project is to challenge the student to improve health habits.
Task:
Improve your health habits by reading 13 Healthy Habits to Improve your Life and then applying the habits to your daily living.
Process:
Using the above source you will rate your current health habits. You will then develop a plan to improve your habits over the next three weeks. The plan should include the following :
A dated assessment of your current use of the 13 health habits.
A health improvement plan stating ways your health can be improved and how you are going to make the improvement. See the learning advice section.
Research from at least three articles explaining why these improvements should be made.
A journal of daily improvement with at least fifteen entries.
A one-page projection of the effects these improvements could mean to you in the future.

Task:
Prepare a portfolio with scale drawings of each room in a given apartment. arrange "cut-to-scale" furniture drawings in the room and make a folder with color, pictures of furnishings, and accessories. Prices should be included for all furniture and accessories.
Process:
Choose one of the two apartments provided. Remember, rent payments are important as well as space. You will be preparing the apartment for you and your new husband/wife.
Look through magazines, sales papers, the internet, etc. to find pictures of furniture and accessories you would like to have in each room.
Cut out pictures of the furnishings. Paste them to sheets of paper showing the cost of each piece.
Each room should be presented in a folder on notebook/printer paper in the following order.
Scale drawing with furniture pasted in the room.
Pictures of furnishings and accessories.
Total cost of room.
All accessories should be listed on a sheet separate from the cost sheet and have cost beside with the total on the final cost sheet.
Use the example as a guide for your portfolio.
Note*
You have a $6,000 budget for completing the rooms.
Remember all of the furniture must fit into the room.
