The mock wedding is the highlight of our family life 1 class.

 

 

Family Life Syllabus

Course Description:

This course will guide the student in the exploration of the complexities of marriage and the relationships in family life. The establishment and maintenance of interpersonal relationships, preparation for marriage and family life and the management of resources to achieve individual and family goals are the focus of this course.

Credits:

Family life is a semester course. It is currently taught opposite Family Life 2.

Completion of this course will earn one-half elective credit toward graduation.

Grading Procedures:

Students will be assigned a "partner" for the duration of this course. Partners will be assigned at the end of the second week of class. After "partnership vows" are taken, each partner will share equally in all class work, homework, tests, and projects. Test will be given together. If one partner is absent  the remaining partner will take the test upon return to school. Partners should keep each other informed of any assignments missed due to absence.

If partners are not working equally on assignments, Ms. Pollard will dissolve the partnership and each member of the partnership will  be required to work alone.

It is your responsibility to ask for any assignments that are missed due to absence or school sponsored field trip. Remember, that you have the number of days you were absent, plus one to make up the work. All make up work is to be done from 7:30AM to 8:00AM or between the hours of 3:10PM and 4:10PM.

Class Rules:

  1. Be prepared for class before the bell rings.
  2. Be in your seat before the bell rings.
  3. Do not eat nor chew gum in this class. (Unless of course we cook the food.)
  4. Bring notebook, pen or pencil, and your book to class each day.
  5. Be courteous to everyone in class.
  6. Take responsibility for your share of all work.

  1. Discuss the following with your partner and write down the answers in complete sentences:

  2. Make a career choice and tell why the career was chosen. List education necessary for the career. Explain any possible problems the career could cause with your marriage. (long hours, travel, etc.)

    A Credits page should be in the PowerPoint with specific URL's used in the presentation.

    Slides should contain the following information:

  6. Engagement ring for the bride. Include a picture of  the ring and cost.

  7. Wedding ring for the bride and the groom. Include a picture of the rings and the costs.

  8. Date, time, and place for the wedding.

  9. Make the following decisions:

  10. Choose the following and include a copy and cost for each item:  ( Use the URL's provided below)

  11. Plan the honeymoon complete with cost.

  12. Find a job on-line. Give salary.

  13. Find a place to rent that does not cost more than 25% of your monthly take-home pay.

Power Point Wedding Checklist

The following items should be found and the prices listed with the picture. Don't forget to include the URL for the place where the items were found.

  Names of bride's maids/ with dress and costs/ any accessories
  Names of groomsmen/tux and cost
   Maid of honor and dress

  Groom's tux/accessories
  Colors to be used for flowers and other decorations--list decorations and how they will be arranged. Include flowers --bride's bouquet, bridesmaid's bouquets, groom and groomsmen boutonniere, flowers for the church and reception, etc./prices

  Candles for wedding and reception
  Music for wedding and reception (type, how played, specific songs  sung by whom
  Invitations /envelopes/stamps/RSVP
  Photographer/video/bridal portrait

  Transportation to and from the church/price
