Mr Phillips is a businessman who lives and works in London.  He is 33 years old, and has a wife and two children.   He works in car advertising for Volkswagon and Fiat and is often flying to Italy and Germany, dealing with many companies abroad. As part of his job he must deal with foreign clients,as well as English, for which he must have a basic knowledge of the language.

          He has been to Italy and Germany many times now, and has started to learn his way around his area and the people with whom he works. Although he learns a bit more of the language everytime he comes, he still only knows the basics. He likes both countries, and has a passion for their culture, architecture, and cuisine.
