well...my first REAL pet (other than goldfish) was Chucki! my chicken! Ok, so it all began on a sunny afternoon in august of 2002. Well...my mom decided to buy some groceries after she picked me up from school. my dad and i sat in the car, silently waiting for my mom to come back. in the middle of the silence, we heard a high pitch sqwauking...like..a bird of some type. And right in front of our car we saw two kids running with a small plastic cage. When my mom got back, my dad asked me if i wanted a chick. my first reaction was 'what?' and then i yelled yes, so we got out of the car and went to the local Game and Fowl store, where my dad asked if they had any chicks. The lady responded 'yes', and she told him the price. $6 for two chicks and food. My dad couldn't refuse the price, and right on the spot a co-worker grabbed two chicks, placed them in a box with wood shaving and handed me it along with a bag of food. So that was that. No planning or anything. I got home with no where to put them, but i placed the two chicked in a warm spot in the garage. After a couple of days, i found an old birdcage and that was their new home. The first one died, but the second one lived to be six months old. we thought it was a boy, so its name was Chuckie. she was the most responsive chicken i had ever seen, and a good security guard. Whenever one of use opened the gate to the backyard, she would run up and greet you , if you werent me, she would peck at your feet. When i went in, she would follow me around and respond to me when i yelled "Chuckie!"
