What To Look For:

There are many things that you should look for in the candidates. Here are a few guidelines to help you make your choice:

Intelligence: You should make sure that the candidate you choose has a reasonable level of intelligence. This will allow you to trust in the candidate's decisions and ability to take on the responsibilities of the job.

In Touch:   A good candidate for class president needs to be in touch with what the school wants and needs.   It is important that the person understand his or her classmates and their opinions and ideas for the school.

Realistic Solutions:   What a candidate promises or says he or she will do reflects greatly on how he/she will most likely govern the school.  One candidate could promise a free 8th grade class trip, but it is not realistic.  Another candidate could promise a fund raiser in order to go on a class trip, and although this is more work, it is the more realistic of the two.  Pick the candidate who will be most likely to come through with their promises, not the one with the more outrageous ideas.

People Skills:   Make sure the person you choose will be able to work for you and your classmates to get what you want. This includes working well with others, being able to speak for the class in order to achieve goals and establish contacts with people.

DO NOT MAKE THIS A POPULARITY CONTEST!!!
