| Easily the most underestimated novel in the Alternate History genre. The writing is good, Mr. DuBois describes his horrific world with eloquence. The novel flows well and the characters are more than adequate. To add onto the already impressive writing Mr. DuBois presents us with a terrifying, and yet plausable, scenario. DuBois generally writes Mystery Novels and he brings that tone to his Alternate History. I would certainly not call the novel a Mystery, for while a government conspiracy is exposed it is closer to a suspense novel than a true Mystery. However a feel of suspense and second-guessing is maintained through the novel. Ressurection Day presents us with an America devastated by the Nuclear War that followed the Cuban Missile Crisis. John F. Kennedy is remembered as the coward who hid in his White House as the Russians dropped their bombs. Russia, in the end, fared far worse in this war of attrition, but America lies now under the boot of martial law, a comfortable position when compared to the days after the war. But something is growing in the ruins of the once great cities. And as the British mass themselves in Canada a secret slips out. "Kennedy Lives." This novel will keep you on the edge of your seat, riveting and thought provoking it deserves a place in anyone's library. Purchase: Reccomended Cost (Amazon): Hardcover (OutOfPrint) Used&New: $2.45< Softcover (OutOfPrint) Used&New: $0.01 I said it was underrated. |
