The Lowicz Museum and the Polish Educational and Cultural Foundation promoted a wycinanki
(paper cutting art) competition in Lowicz, Poland entitled "Souvenir from Poland."
The competition served to promote traditional Lowicz paper cut-outs in the USA, local folk artists and
their work, and the participation of schools and cultural institutions in the Lowicz district.
The contest began in late 2003 with a workshop and ended in March, 2004. The participants included
45 local folk artists and amateurs, 10 schools from Lowicz and the Lowicz district, and two
institutions;they presented 265 paper cut outs for judging. |
