Statement From Governor Don Siegelman
Dear Friends,
A few obsessed Government officials have spent millions of tax payer's dollars in a pathetic attempt to control the election for Governor because they don't trust the people of Alabama enough to let them make that decision on their own.
It's not right, it's not fair, and I'm not going to let it happen and the people of Alabama aren't going to let it happen either.
These charges are absurd and false. I will be proven totally innocent.
As the Tuscaloosa News reported a few weeks ago, "this investigation is a farce and a waste of taxpayer money. The timing of this probe is too obvious to be merely coincidental."
The prosecutors don't know me but the people of Alabama do. They know me to be honest, hardworking and someone who will never, ever quit.
I won't quit this race for Governor. I won't quit this fight for the people of Alabama and I won't stop fighting to protect my good name.
I will win this fight, I will win the Democratic primary, and with the help of the people of Alabama, I will win the General Election in November.
Bob Riley is afraid to face me in the General Election. He knows my record of accomplishment and he knows he can't defend his record of raising taxes.
I will take my stand, not for me but for my family. I will take this stand, not for me but for the people of Alabama.
I will stand and fight so that the people will have the right to decide who they want for Governor in 2006.
Thank you for your support and belief in me.
Sincerely |
