Frank Owusu-Ansah

"It does not matter to be born in a duckyard if you are a swan". When Hans Christian Anderson wrote about the "Ugly Duckling", he undoubtedly used his life style as the basis for the story. This life-style, even after the death of Anderson, continues to register on the lives of many other people.

One afternoon on April 28th, 1972 in a little historical village called Assin Adubiase in Central Region - Ghana, West Africa, Frank Owusu-Ansah was born. Although the labor process was very irregular and traumatic, no special attention was granted to the oddity. Unlike the other children, Frank was born with a potential speech impairment. The timely intervention of the senior physician at Assin Foso St. Francis Xavier Hospital miraculously provided a permanent cure to this infirmity. So you see, from the very begining Frankie had to grapple with the struggle for survival. Started under a single parent guidance (female), in what is called "the lower class society". A prophet would've been stoned to death if he had prophesized about Frank's success and self actualization.

He had his GCE Ordinary Level certificate from Assin Foso Secondary School (Ghana) in 1992 with Division 1 Distinction. And in two years latter, finished his GCE Advanced Level at Accra Academy (Ghana) with Aggregate 3. In June 1996, Frank gained admission into the University of Ghana-Legon (a popular university in Africa) to pursue Bachelor of Science Administration in Accounting.

He was in a male hall of residence called Commonwealth Hall, that housed over 1500 students. Commonwealth, nicknamed the V.A.N.D.A.L. City, provided Frankie with virtues, which later contributed to his becoming the president of the Student Representative Council (SRC), an equivalent of Student Government Association (SGA in the USA) for the 1998/99 academic year. O'Ansah took over the student office at the time when the then NDC government was introducing a questionable educational policy at the tertiary level, which was perceived by students to make higher education a previlege instead of a right as enshrined in the Ghanaian national constitution. On the policy issue, O'Ansah participated in a lot of radio and TV shows and also cross-fired with politicians and government appointees.

During his reign, many innovations were brought to the student council. With the help of some benevolent organizations and students, a cyber cafe was created for the first time to aid students in their studies. The SRC constitution was also revised for the first time since 1960. In December 1998, Frankie and his other three officers were sponsored by Council for International Educational Exchange (CIEE), a U.S. based organization, to participate in a student leadership program in the United States. Schools visited included Montclair State University. Lincoln University, Georgetown University, Howard University, and the United States Student Association (USSA).

He finally graduated in June 1999, after which Frankie came bach to the US to familiarize himself with the intricacies of computers at Essex County College (ECC)in Newark NJ. Whiles learning to become a computer savvy, Frankie also worked at ECC as a tutorial assistant at the accounting department. In the fall of 2002, Frank gained admission to pursue his MBA at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. In May 2004, Frankie graduated and accepted a full time employment with PricewaterhouseCoopers USA(PwC). Frankie is currenly a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA)and also preparing to write the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) exams.

In future Frank will prefer to become a resourceful professional to the global financial and business community.

Today, I could say emphantically that the door of success is opened to me too. With determination and commitment, I'm confident to make it to the top, and fly one day like a Swan. Glory be to God.
