Andy
was a native of Pike County, Kentucky. He was the son of Greta
Roberts Adkins and the late Victor Dean Adkins. He was preceded
in
death by his paternal grandparents, Melvin and Marie Adkins. He is
survived by his mother, Greta; cherished wife, Leslie Gross Adkins;
beloved twin sons Brady Andrew and Caleb Emanuel; his siblings,
Jake and his wife Paula, Amy,
Bridgett and her husband Harold, and Vicki; maternal grandparents
Cecil and Geneva Tackett Roberts, and a host of other family members,
friends,
and
loved ones.
Andy was a graduate of Harlan High School and Centre College who
received his education degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He
was a highly-regarded history teacher at Cawood High School who also
served as an Upward Bound teacher and a tutor through Southeast Community
Colege and who had formerly taught for a year at his high school
alma mater.
In
addition to the many positive contributions he made to both his
profession and the students entrusted to his care, he gave generously
of his time and talents as a member of the Harlan Baptist Church, where
he taught a high school Sunday School class and labored as an assistant
with the youth group.He will be missed by all.

A memorial scholarship has been established in Andy's memory. The Scholarship is available to all seniors in Harlan County and Seniors in Bell County who attend The Upward Bound Program at Southeast Community College.
