There are a number of computer games available in shops, that include the option of driving police cars around. Here are some of my favourites.
Need For Speed 4
Midtown Madness
Driver
M25 Racer / London Racer
This is my favourite driving game at the moment. It basically consists of lots of tracks with career or short race modes as well as the 'Hot Pursuit' mode in which you can catch people in a number of different kinds of police cars including generically marked British police cars on all of the UK tracks. There are an amazing amount of extra cars available to download on the internet as well.
This game by Microsoft is amazing in its depth. It is completely non-linear whcih means you can drive anywhere on a fairly accurate and large map of Chicago. Of course, being in Chicago, you can only drive Chicago Police Department's cars but it is still a great game.
This game is worth a mention. Like Midtown Madness, it is non-linear, but it is set in the '70s and also has a strong story-line to it. The gamer plays an undercover police driver who needs to infiltrate a crime gang etc. You can drive American '70s police cars in any of the four cities featured although they are only the black and white ones. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought New York (one of the cities in the game) had blue/white police cars. Oh well.
This is quite a fun game, although not too deep in its coverage. It is set in the UK around London (surprisingly). In it there are races you have to win etc. to release other cars including a Metropolitan Police car that you can drive around in - but not stop anyone in, hmmmmm.
