Season's Greetings! It has taken me a while to get organised enough to put this site together, but I hope you enjoy catching up on all of our happenings! With any luck, and a bit of patience, I will update this site regularly to let family and friends keep up on news here, (hence, "Keeping up with the Jones's" J) As the festive season draws near, I am amazed at how quickly another year has flown by, and I question if I have accomplished much in the past twelve months, I chastise myself for not keeping in touch better with friends and family, and I revel at how much I have to be thankful for. Decorating for the holiday has grown into quite the activity here. A few years ago, we opted not to purchase a Christmas tree. With two large dogs, the kids and the cat, ornaments rarely stay on the tree, anyway...J?So, instead, we build a small Victorian village complete with lit buildings, roads and town occupants. Each year, this little village grows by a few more buildings, and this has become one of our favourite family traditions for the festive season. This year we started the town layout at Hallow's Eve, as two of our new buildings are haunted. J? In lieu of decorating a tree, we have decorated the hanging plants with lights, garlands and bobbles, which looks remarkably like a tree from outside.J? Andréa had the honour of painting the windows...it's amazing how snowmen, elves and reindeer look so different in the eye of an eight year old!! This Christmas is particularly special for Hal and I, as Jason will actually be home for Christmas, and Mother will spend much of the day with us, as well! We have spent the last eight years postponing our Christmas celebrations, so that both of the kids can be here at the same time, it is a welcome surprise to be able to celebrate like 'normal' families. Jason is in charge of dessert this year, and he is taking the task quite seriously. Profite Rolls and Florentines are his choice for the holiday. So much for the days when Pillsbury sugar cookies kept him busy… Feel free to explore the rest of the site, I will try to keep you all updated. Have a Happy Ho-Ho!
