Prologue: This is all Ranma’s fault!
=== === ===
Prologues are generally used to give a small amount of backstory before spinning a tale. Well, this prologue does things a bit differently, but it’s essentially the same idea.
Kami is God, only Japanese. It’s a generalization, but for this fic, it works well enough. Actually, it’s not like you didn’t know that already, but I felt I should tell you. You know, just in case.
Kami had a plan for the magic pendant. The magic pendant was going to be picked up by Gosunkugi Hikaru. It was all in The Plan. And of course, when Kami decides on an element of The Plan, He’s never wrong. I’m sure anyone who’s seen Dogma is familiar with this concept. For those of you who haven’t seen Dogma... If Kami (God, remember?) is proved wrong, existence doesn’t exist any more.
And, in the words of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (by Douglas Addams, if memory serves correct); it will be replaced with something even weirder.
Oh, those of you who have by now figured out that this is a crossover... Congratulations. Of course, there is a reason it’s in the crossover section.
--- --- ---
As I mentioned before, our story starts with a pendant. A magic pendant. Of course, the little girl the pendant belonged to didn’t know it was magic. She just knew it was pretty, and made her feel like a princess as she walked through the park.
"DIE SAOTOME!" Ryoga chased after the pigtailed martial artist.
"Still faster than you, P-chan!" Ranma taunted, turning to pull a face at his opponent.
Chance took a sucker punch at Destiny, and Ranma tripped over the little girl. They both went sprawling. The pendant’s chain broke, and it flew high into the air, dropping down to the bottom of the nearby pond.
Ranma rolled a few feet and smacked into a tree.
The little girl fell on her face, sat up, and started crying.
Ryoga, rather stunned, stared at the scene.
...Of course, this whole scene was not supposed to happen. The girl was supposed to walk through the market the next day. A thief would have stolen the pendant, and later dropped it as worthless. A week later Gosunkugi Hikaru would have found it, and recognized its magical qualities, and would have used its power to become a real magic user.
Kami sighed and shook His head. So much for this universe, the strands of reality were already starting to unravel. ...Well, at least it wouldn’t be boring.
