A Self-Insertion for those who just can't take it any more
Scott Douglas Davidson
Warnings: Now you get to meet my Mary Sues. The way some people get around Mary Sues, I figure that they'd better be included in the warnings.
Disclaimer: While DBZ isn't mine, Faran and Cathowl are. If you want to use them; give me credit. That's all I ask. Oh, and send me a link to your story. I'd always want to read a story with my characters in it. It'd be interesting.
Feedback: Constructive criticism is encouraged.

In a grassy clearing, far off, in another dimension actually, a buxom teenage girl with a monkey-like tail was approached by a tall, slim, exotic-looking woman with waist-length silver hair and eyes to match. She moved almost silently, the swishing of her shiny black dress the only testimony of her existence on this plane.
"Hello Faran." The younger nodded in wary acknowledgement to the other "Why pray tell are you gracing this dimension with your unique presence?"
"Interesting that thou would use the speech more common from my dimension. Well cat, thou may speak as thee normally would and I will take no offence. This is not a formal visit." The lady bowed her head slightly.
"Fine, Dragon, why are you here? You know the Author keeps the anime dimensions and fantasy dimensions he visits separate, since our bickering destroyed several of his favorites." The teen, Cathowl, let slip her polite mask into the true annoyance that she felt.
"As I did say cat, this is not a formal visit. I did hear that Maia is going to be teaching lessons to Saiyans. I fear for her safety and wished to beseech her not to take such a dangerous journey." Faran lowered her head slightly.
"You're too late. I begged him. But he already left. You are aware our Author is now called Scott, and not Maia, right?" Cathowl's tail flicked to the side as Cathowl tried to keep it from lashing in her anger at the person intruding into her realm.
"I know. It is hard to get used to though. By the way, how complete is the conversion as be?" Faran's gaze showed no curiosity, her expression calm, but Cathowl could see questions bouncing around in her eyes, demanding to be let out in more then a single calm query, the millions of things Faran wanted to ask.
"Dressed only. Why are you in knock 'em dead form anyhow?" Cathowl raked her gaze once from Faran's delicate silver slipper-clad feet, to the hem of her shiny black flowing dress, up where the fabric closed in on her form, revealing all of her curves, past the simple yet elegant mithril pendant that hung from the silver chain around her neck, to meet her elven eyes that gazed calmly at her as a queen would look down at a particular peasant that she was rather unfond of.
"Because, it would not do for me to scare these people in my Dragon form. And I do only have two human forms, of which I prefer this, the female." Faran answer curtly, for her.
"Hmph. Scott will be fine. He needs neither you nor me." Cathowl's words were belied by the shaky tone they were conveyed in. Faran looked mildly amused.
"Thou dost be poor at lying, cat." Faran smirked, a look that seemed foreign on her face "Thou art worried for our Author. A good thing. But could you not rescue her-... him from whatever fate might befall him?"
"He wrote me and you specifically out of the dimension he went to, Dragon." Cathowl sighed. "We can watch, he left us a viewing device, but we can't do anything."
"A pity. Doesn't one normally send one's avatars to do these things for them?" Faran tilted her head slightly, like a curious bird.
"Yeah. But you're from his original work. He's in a universe that belongs to someone else." Cathowl plopped down on the grass and started playing with it dejectedly.
"sThou means fanfiction? How dreadful!" Faran exclaimed, looking scandalized. Cathowl eyed her.
"Your old English accent gets worse and worse the more you speak." the young deity huffed "You do know that, in fanfiction, avatars are usually referred to as 'Mary Sues', right? Well, Scott's been getting some flack for writing Mary Sues recently, and there are a lot of anti Mary Sue sites out there. He decided that he had to do this himself."
"How horrid. In fantasy, avatars are common, and often treated highly. Indeed, most fantasy stories contain avatars. It's uncommon for there to be none within a book." Faran sat delicately next to her anime counter-part.
"Well, that's true of anime too, but no one realizes it. Heck, Goku and Ranma are male Mary Sues, Sailor Moon's a Mary Sue, people like her. I don't understand why bringing in a new one is so offensive to people." Cathowl grumped.
"Nor do I, cat. Nor do I." Faran shook her head "Dost thou know when the Author will be back from his quest?" Cathowl shook her head.
"Not a clue. When he gets sick of it. It could be a few hours, it could be months. His attention span is fairly erratic you know." Cathowl folded her arms behind her head and leaned back in the grass.
"I am well aware of that. That erratic attention span is the reason you are his current favorite, as I was before." Faran sighed.
"Well, can't say I'm sorry about that, if he'd kept to you he'd never have came up with me and my boys." Cathowl grinned lopsidedly at the humanized Dragon she was talking with.
"Truth, that. It does not mean I like it myself though. However, I do believe that in the absence of our Author to patch up any reality we might tear, it is in our best interests to not fight at the moment." Faran extended a hand towards the teen in the grass.
"Amen to that, sister! Truce." Cathowl shook Faran's proffered hand "Care to watch the proceedings with me?"
"I would be partial to such an activity, indeed." Faran sat down next to Cathowl, though with a considerable amount more dignity than the young Goddess had shown. Cathowl reached into nothing and pulled out a large plate of steel, and tapped it three times. An image formed on it of the boy who she had seen off to another dimension.
"A wonder." Faran noted. Cathowl eyed her again.
"Gal, we gotta teach you to speak modern. People just don't speak like that no more." Cathowl shook her head and settled down to watch the Author's bungling adventures in teaching Saiyajin a lesson.
