| Ash started his Pokémon quest off with
Pikachu. Whilst "On the Road to Viridian City" Pikachu was
severely injured in a pokémon battle. Due to Pikachu's refusal to enter
pokéballs, Ash had to "borrow" Misty's
bike, but it got destroyed after a recovered Pikachu sent Jessie
& James "blasting off" for the first time.
After Ash bet the Pewter Gym
Leader Brock, Brock joined Ash's group saying that his true aspiration is not to be a gym
leader but a pokémon breeder, and so these three friends have
traveled together since.

When
Ash was departing towards Hoenn,
Misty was called on to take care of the Cerulean
Gym because her sisters were leaving on a trip. She will meet Ash again,
though. By the time Ash passes through Route
111, Misty will be able fly (by aircraft, not using the HM) towards him
to pay him a small surprise-filled visit.
