trainers show off their pokémon and rave on and on about how
wonderful their pokémon are.

In 1999, the director of the
fan club would take photographs of trainers' pokémon free of charge.

Pier
| Vermilion City is famous for being a port city. At Vermillion
Pier, the cruiser S.
S. St. Anne used to dock. This cruiser departed for a
year-long around-the-world cruise in the 1990's and it hasn't been
seen since. Rumor has it that the ship really sank. |

Gym

Lt.
Surge, an ex-war veteran, is the leader of the gym in this
city. He uses electric type pokémon against his opponents.
His gym is filled with small buckets with switches. To get to
the leader, the trainer must first find the correct combination of
switches that opens the gates towards him.

The
SS Aqua
| Since the year 2000, the S.
S. Aqua has been docking here. This fast ship sails between
Vermilion City and Olivine
City in Johto every other day.
