Lorraine McMath

Prior to Wellbeing Works Lorraine most recently managed the Marlborough health promotion team of the Nelson Marlborough DHB Public Health Service. She has a nursing background with a primary focus on wellbeing. She has 32 years experience in the health sector with the last 20 years in Public Health. During that time a year in the Pacific gave insight into Pacific life and culture.
Recent experience includes:
- Qualitative and quantitative research; eg NMDHB Health Needs Assessment focus group interviewing for consumer input, smoking rates of pregnant women, programme review with Gay and Lesbian consumers.
- Project planning and leadership; worked with staff to introduce programme logic model to health promotion planning.
- Evaluation of health promotion projects; completed The Shore Centre Evaluation Course. Developed evaluation tools for public health programmes, ran workshops for staff on evaluation, budget management; planned and managed the health promotion budget for Marlborough PHS.
- Quality assurance and audit; worked with staff to meet quality NZ Standards for PHS and audit of sexual health, communicable disease and tobacco control programmes.
- Policy development; facilitated breastfeeding in the workplace policy for NMDHB, assisted in development of nutrition policy for NMDHB.
- Teaching and training; planned and provided inservice training for health promotion for public health staff, practice nurses and community health professionals.
- Community consultation; as a component of programme assessment, planning and evaluation.
