Intro to Pokmon!

-How did this Pokemania start? Just read what's below!

Pokmon (short for Pocket Monsters, pronounced Poh-kay-mauhn) is a Game Boy game that first debuted in Japan, February 27th, 1996.  It  became the highest selling game in the history of Japan.  featuring cute little pokemon characters like pikachu, you had to raise the pokemon, and make them stronger due to fighting. It didnt take long before Pokmon merchandise had been stocking up on shelves with dolls, puppets, glasses, stamps, cardgames. stationary, rings, clothes, and even Pokmon costumes. Just name it! ;)

Together with the game release of pokemon in North America, the little critters arrived with its very own animated series on September 8th. Unfortelate;y here in Holland we still had to wait to get the game AND the series. But because of the net was full of roms i already got the game before it was released here in Holland. Then in Summer 1999 The pokemon series was finally released here, first bringning two episodes a week, but later on it became nine episodes a week, and i was really happy! :)  The Pokmon series are vaguely based on the game's story line with Ash Ketchum (that name is so corny that its almost very original.) and his Pokmon, Pikachu, as the main characters.

There are as far as i know four versions of the Pokmon game. The red version, the blue version, the yellow, version and the green version. I think the green version isnt yet released outside of Japan and i dont think it will, its the same as blue and red again. Besides that 4 games, there are also two other pokemon ga,es for the gameboy: Pokmon pinball and The Pokmon card game. The pinball game is total crap but the card game is pretty good. ANd there are also two other pokemon games on the way: Gold and silver. where you can mate two pokemons. very cool. Besides the gameboy games there are also some n64 games but they wont be released outside of japan until march this year (2000) There are 151 known Pokmons in total but only 150 are available in the US version of the game.  Not all 150 monsters could be found on one game pak.  For example, one version might contain certain Pokmons that the other version might not have.  The only solution is to trade. (or waste your money and buy the other game...) You and your opponent can battle or trade using two Game Boys and a Game Boy Link Cable.  It'll probably be a good idea to trade with a person with a different-coloured game pak so you can get certain Pokmons that your game pak may not have.  Hey, why dont you organize a pokemon league on a very boring sunday noon, eh? *lol*
