Solar Revolution Notes
Chapter Seven: Knight in Shining Armor
- For those of you who feel that the word Genoikan is used a lot, it is a culture, and yes pay attention to every time it is used. I have some coincidences, and most of those are intentional. This is one of them.
- What did you think of the way the Annie scandals were resolved? Neither sugary sweet, nor was it one of my lapses into being a mad manipulator. I personally feel it was the best of both worlds and ended in the ideal manner. Not that this is the end of Annie and Monarch, for they will have obstacles coming up including dealing with Fauna and finally making the extent of their feelings clear.
- One thing you might have noticed: I try avoiding the use of the term 'magic.' Oh, I do use 'magically', but a belief I have when it comes to stories is that it is important to acknowledge that there are many types of magics. That reminds me; when I get a chance, I'm going to put up a page that explains the differences and boundaries of the various types of magics used, and that will also relate to all the cultures I plan on creating. I just hope you appreciate the effort I go through with this fanfic.
- I came up with the light speed idea by... uh... I forgot. Oh wait, it was the Phoenix Sagas episodes in X-Men that inspired me. But I think that since Celeste is associated with light and astral phoenixes interact with those born on stars and are immortal and can travel through space, I thought it would be cool if Phoebe could enable Celeste to go into space as well. And the fact that it takes hours to get to the Evolite ship, that is realistic, especially since it still takes hours on earth to travel from one part of the world to another, and this distant is on a much grander scale.
- Celeste's revelation that only a handful of the Evolites are good; self explanatory.
- Referring back to one of my above statements, in the telepathy section of the different magics I'll explain, I will end up putting the full list of tricks Celeste is able to do and uses. So you will understand how it is possible for her to weaken the tie between mind and body.
- Significance of today's title, Knight in Shining Armor. First off, M does end up rescuing the damsel Annie. Secondly, Darien is explicitly Celeste's knight in shining armor (though I think Celeste was more interested in the 'armor' of the car then she was in who the knight was). Third of all, the Shining Star Warrior is a literal knight in shining armor and does end up rescuing a few damsels in distress. And finally, the Solar in Derek's dream was mocking the whole nobleman and knightly image.
- Today I had two primary sick little twists: Celeste was attacked and almost raped by a group of Jess's friends, and the fact that today's victim didn't make it. These are both intended to make the senshi's lives not seem so charmed and perfect. They are human and run into bad situations and have failures as well as successes. If you are still reading my fanfic and hate my "occasional" dark reality twists, you are purposely being contrary. You can still e-mail me, cause I would find e-mails by any persons, but especially of this variety, amusing.
- Advice I decided to repeat in every one of my notes here on out: pay attention to the details if you want to guess my foreshadowings. I rarely put in a detail just for the hell of it, though that is occasionally fun, I don't have the time to waste on superfluous minute aspects. So if you read something and it seems like it has been mentioned before, there is a good likelihood it was. There are many reoccurences. On that note, I do plan on tying up some loose ends I left in the beginning, such as Raye's visions. That is really important in the long run, and I'm going to periodically bring them up again.
- Something to think about. It is a confirmed fact that Fauna is kind of insane. Now the question is do the infamous Them exist or are they, and in turn the voices she hears, part of her imagination which she can't discern from reality? Sorry, but it is sooooo fun tantalizing you with questions that I'm not going to answer for several episodes. So you'll see. =>'
- Lastly, for everyone's sake, I'm translating the words from the manuscript. Nunc est media nocte. In antiquo imperio pro meo honoro nunc voco. Olim sacram lucam terrae defendebam, et nunc redere paro. Pro stellis terrisque pugno. This is Latin, which is appropriate since the Shining Star Warrior is medieval, and in medieval times Latin was more prominent. Line for line, here is the translation. "Now is midnight. I now call on the ancient power in behalf of my honor. Formerly I have defended the sacred light of earth, and now I prepare to return. I fight on behalf of the stars and the earth." I know this sounds kind of basic, and that is because it is basic. The reason I didn't outright translate it there was because it would ruin the effect it had.
- Speaking of the Shining Star Warrior, here is why he was created without spoiling the plot. I'm obsessed with mythology and also fascinated by Arthurian legend. Hence I'm incorporating both of my loves in the story. The SSW represents and incorporates the Arthurian aspect. I would have named him the Shining Star Knight, but that would sound like I was ripping off the Moonlight Knight name, when he is a completely different character. However, SSW is a knight in every sense, he has the armor and weapons of a knight, the steed, medieval affiliations, and is chivalrous and polite. And yes, he does retain his alter ego's infatuation on the Solar Sailor. But do any of you honestly believe I'm that much of a romantic, to have them actually become a couple?
- Melissa, what can I say about her. I was looking at the back of Bulfinch's Mythology one day, and under the name Melissa it simply said "The enchantress that inhabited Merlin's cave." Since I couldn't find anything off hand to indicate whether she was good, bad, or benign, I created a character based on that single sentence. Melissa apprenticed under Merlin and helps do his bidding. Both want to revive Avalon and Camelot, and believe that Derek is a descendant of King Arthur. I'm not going to say whether this belief is correct or incorrect. But Melissa's life is her sorcery and causes, and is not going to be a regular character. She pretty much gave Derek certain tools and is leaving him to stumble through his destiny. She will probably appear again, and there is a miniscule chance that Merlin will as well, but if it does happen, it probably won't happen until the end of this season or the beginning of the next.
- So after hearing my wise words, and marvelous opinions, outside of the context of the story, I hopefully leave you longing for more of my quick wit and humor. Now then, it is 2:30 AM and I have completed yet another chapter and another set of notes that gives further explanations. I'm now going to head off to my room and roam around the realm of Morpheus.
Hope you enjoyed this episode. I assume the amount of action was satisfactory. Be prepared for more upcoming episodes and an entirely new look for the whole site. Please E-mail me at [email protected]. Keep reading. =vD
