Notes on Chapter Three: Silent Fates
- Before anything else is said, I would like to say that these are not my original notes for this chapter. Through lots of little overlooked details, the original notes have been lost and are completely unretrievable. Hence, I am taking the time to make a new set of notes. Though these may not provide quite as much insight into what was going through my head during the original creation of this, it has been written after many more chapters have been added. Hence, I suspect that my insights will be more in the tangent of discussing this chapter in relation to the whole story.
- Fauna does have reasons for biasing her judgement in favor of Natalie (5th of the Swarm Generals; a.k.a. Snail) and against Warvus (7th of the Swarm Captains; a.k.a. Beetle). However, they are convulted ones that wouldn't offhand make sense to the sane. In her mind however, she is absolutely justified in always assuming the worst of Warvus and always giving Natalie the benefit of the doubt.
- Honestly, I enjoy the fact that Celeste does have some emotional issues. Unfortunately, all too often when characters are given some sort of emotional problem, they tend to go to too far of an extreme. Then again I believe that everyone has emotional issues; it is just a matter of difference in degree and how much it interferes with one's life.
- Yes, Celeste is bitter about her parents' upcoming divorce. However, I think it is mature of her to not assume its her fault. But she does really hold their past behavior against them. Not that she doesn't still love them, but you get the idea.
- Jamie was the volleyball player in the third season who Mina liked and figured out she was Sailor Venus. I thought it would be cool for him to have a comeback. Let's just say his presence will add a little spice to the fanfic.
- Brian happened to evolve because of this chapter's title. But I think a deaf-mute genius who will one day find means of overcoming his physical hindrances makes for a great Bright Future, and an interesting character. And the fact that he happens to be besotted by both Celeste and Hotaru makes it even more intriguing.
- Celeste and Darien will end up being somewhat close, but not in a romantic sense. For reasons that will eventually become apparent, they have a brother-sister type relationship. That doesn't mean that Serena won't think it is something more...
- Celeste does seem to have a knack for coming up with devious plans that don't harm anyone. Just thought I'd point that out.
- Once again, I've never actually seen the 5th season. Yet, I know, I know, Hotaru and the rest of the Outers are supposed to live together. But for my world, I don't want that. I, unlike many other fans, don't have a low opinion of Dr. Tomoe. I don't think he is a neurotic, over-protective father or anything. And I'd feel sad if he were parted from his daughter. Hence the alternative living situation.
- Sebastian (3rd General of the Swarm; a.k.a. Wasp) and Cornelius (4th General of the Swarm; a.k.a. Scorpion) were written to minorly incorporate a theme I think is intriguing. Which is worse, indifference or sadism? Sebastian represents the sadistic aspect, actively seeking out to harm others because he enjoys the power it gives him. And this pervert finds inflicting pain a turn on. And Cornelius, he is practically as emotionless as a machine. He thinks nothing of harming someone if they are hindering his goal. It is such a insignificant action, inflicting harm, that he doesn't remember doing so. That is perhaps how he differs the most from Sebastian. Sebastian remembers and savors every misdeed of his, relishing in the details, whereas Cornelius disregards them as something to even acknowledge.
- The interactions between Celeste and Hotaru will eventually lead to a bigger role. However, it won't be revealed until the end of the second season why they seem to never quite see things eye to eye.
- Next chapter the reason for Celeste's "allergies" will be cleared up.
- My philosophy when it comes to taking drugs: we all have it shoved down our throat that drugs have all sorts of dangerous effects. So, it is really a personal decision whether someone wants to take their chances and experience a short lived high with long term consequences. It's not my thing, but I'm not going to condemn others who do.
- I liked my fighting scene in this episode. Yes, it was brief. Yes, it was cheap to not go into more detail as to how Saturn managed to defeat Cicada. However, in my defense, I don't know much about her attacks from the authentic Sailor Moon world. But hope this sample of the fighting scenes to come makes you want to read more.
- Oh, speaking of Cicada, let me explain about that. Cicadas are insects that happen to make noise, much like a cricket does. And since Cricket (aka Richard) was the one who chose today's Petty Minion, there is somewhat of a tenuous connection between the two.
Hoped you enjoyed the first three chapters of the Solar Revolution. Keep reading =^ )
