Notes on Chapter Two: Recipe for a Brew
- The Genoikan culture is spreads across an entire galaxy in a distant part of the universe. While at the moment I can't elaborate much, the Genoikan's from the Benith'l system have been previous victims of the Evolites. The culture specializes in magics of three areas: the mind, the body, and the heart. The Genoikan's have talents with many domestic activities. All the Genoikan's on the Evolite ship were doomed to not have prosperous lives in the first place, and since they lacked skills in any of the specialized magics, they didn't resist being slaves too much. Also, the infamous rutaya dish is a speciality of this culture. It is basically the stalks of a flower high in glucose, with steamed leaves of a sweet cabbage like vegetable, topped with nuts and a sauce made of short lived flower petals, vanilla, and cream.
- The phrase "oh my many Creators" is used in the same context as "oh my God." I am not raging against religion, but the Evolites don't really have a god. They think that Fauna, along with many greater forces, gave birth to them as individuals. Since there are no parents, no births, this just reinforces that belief. Also, the phrase "in Fauna's name" is like "for goodness sake."
- The title of this chapter has to do with how trouble is brewing for the scouts, romance is brewing between Annie and Monarch Butterfly, and Danielle and her brewing tea and coffee
- You've noticed by now how I switch off calling the Colonel Monarch Butterfly, Monarch, Butterfly, M Butterfly, or something with 'The' in front. I just get tired of using the full name every time I mention him (and with my minimizing refering to the Monarch as 'him'
- I am trying to be precise at calling Serena Sailor Moon when she is transformed. Although I still think of her as Serena, no matter the form. But the other senshi when transformed will just be called by their planet, except when they are introduced to the scene.
- Warvus (Beetle) is not a perverted old man, unlike grandpa. He isn't really big on romantic relationships. He sees most people as acquaintances, enemies, allies, or treats them in a paternal manner. Also, he isn't evil. And he gets attached to everyone he speaks with; but Warvus lacks the realization that his victims get hurt, and that it can become permanent. Warvus isn't particularly vengeful, except on sadists and such. But he can't stand incompetence. That he why he despises Natalie (Snail) in particular. Also, the name Warvus is the genus for many beetles.
- Celeste's dad does have a condo that is on the other side of town from the studio. Celeste and her dad each have a small room, a bathroom, and a mini refrigerator at the second story of the studio. Just as often as not, they sleep at the studio instead of the condo. Celeste's dad isn't particularly strict, as long as she calls in at 11:00 with an approxiamation when she'll be home, and where she'll be staying. Celeste isn't exactly a flirt, but she goes out on casual dates with a lot of guys. Usually it is only one date.
- I think my opinion on the relationship between Amara and Michelle should be noted. I am not particularly for or against it. I think that some of their behavior suggests that they are also attracted to guys, especially Michelle, as well as each other. However, I am planning on having fun by playing off of their relationship. Primarily, I plan on having them be a little more open about their relationship, and have them have some playful, lighthearted bickering. They make a good team, and though I dislike how Michelle seems to need to convince Amara something before she'll (Michelle) take action. And Amara resists outside help too much. Also, I think the creators were dumb when they had Neptune use water powers like Mercury. But overall, I think they add a great dynamic to the team.
- Although the emphasis might not be as strong as I would like, it was a big deal that Monarch admitted he is male. He doesn't really realize that he is such an enigma, and assumes that everyone is being formal when he is never refered to as 'he'. Also Fauna is, as you have hopefully guessed, half mad. While she leans on the sadistic side, she cares for her followers the way sane people care for their pets. Her behavior resembles tough love. And she isn't entirely to blame for her behavior. But that story is for another day.
- Sorry this episode isn't more packed with adventure. But I have my reasons. If I did give this episode more action, it would have dragged on to be twice its length. And this just wasn't that important of a battle for me to spend lots of time coming up with some good descriptions. But I promise, when I do have an action packed scene, you'll appreciate the detail and description that goes into it.
- *Sorry again. I know I switch off calling these episodes and chapters. Thing is, sometimes I think of it as a book I'm writing, other times I think of it as another adventure on the show that just happens to be written by myself (and will never actually be make it onto TV).
