Notes on Chapter One: Heavenly Arrival
- I’ve had no exposure to Japanese culture except through the dubbed anime I see on TV, a few subtitled animes from anime club, friends, and through other internet sites. I’ve adopted a couple of Japanese words: Senshi, fuku, henshin, etc. They are pretty easy to figure out what they mean. If you haven’t already guessed, I use the American names. When I had started writing this, seasons 3 and 4 had been recently aired on Cartoon Network, and I have adopted the names of Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Saturn as they appear on the show. Uranus- Amara aka Haruka; Neptune- Michelle aka Michiru; Pluto- Trista aka Setsuna; Saturn- Hotaru aka Hotaru. Also, my knowledge of the Sailor Scouts during the planning stages had ended with where the 4th season leaves off. So in my world, the Starlights never appeared, chibi-chibi never came, and the corrupted scouts might have references to in my future episodes, but will never make cameos. Even when I finally do see Season 5, Solar Revolution will still be written as if the 5th season never occurs.
- When I use the word scouts, in my world it refers to strictly the inner senshi. This is for both when they are Sailors and when they are living their normal lives. I grew up thinking of them this way, and though I do use the word senshi frequently as well, I can't completely phase out this habit.
- The name Celeste means Heavenly
- Doves are often considered associated with Venus
- Fauna in Greek mythology is a goddess associated with animals, and Bona Dea is her Roman counterpart
- Those of you who have read the play "M Butterfly" by David Henry Hwang will understand the gender confusion surrounding the Monarch Butterfly
- Aglaia, Celeste’s last name, in Greek Mythology is one of the three Graces, whose name means brilliance
