Meeting Travis
Emma

Hundreds of people crowded the market square of Cambridge on Friday October 8th in a hope to catch a glimpse of Travis. The Scottish band were busking for charity before their gig at The Junction. They managed to raise a total of 120, which put Cambridge above the tight arsed Geordies but below Glaswegians.
Lead singer Fran seemed too busy with the cameras to sign autographs, from what we saw anyway, however he managed to sign some outside The Junction that night. The other band members, drummer Neil, bassist Dougie and electric guitarist Andy were more than happy to sign autographs and take photos. Neil was particularly friendly and opened a guest list for the concert that night, only a selected few were on it (Ned meaning Emma saw the concert for free!)
The band sung some well known songs at the busk including a cover of Baby One More Time, which in my opinion was better than the original. The most memorable moment would be the sky opening up and covering the crowds with a downpour during the singing of What Does It Always Rain on Me? (Ironic hey?)
The concert started at seven. Opening act Magic Numbers set the atmosphere with some rock and some ballads. They had just signed a record deal and were similar to The Thrills althrough the front man looked scarily like Tenacious D frontman Jack Black.
At 8 the long awaited band came on stage, the atmosphere suddenly changed. The crowd moshed, sang along and in tune also surprisingly. One particular member of the crowd decided to scream I LOVE YOU DOUGIE at the top of her voice.(who this person is we shall never know) They sang the well known songs from Writing to Reach You to their latest single. They also sung a song from the debut album Good Feeling which sadly didnt have the same success as the second album entitled The Man Who.
Dougie got his moment to shine with his guitar solo in Turn and also his singing solo in Driftwood. Also, he covered T Rexs Blue Flashing Light, which went down very well. Dougie noticed the girl screaming his name in the crowd so he threw his towel to her and the evil tall bloke in front of her caught it!
Overall the concert was incredible and the band certainly define the word rock. (Ned dunno which concert Emma was actually act since Travis arent actually a rock band!)
