Fifties Faces
Ned

This summer Grease takes its revenge. With this invasion of 50sness comes the excuse to wear something ridiculous and claim its fashion. Oh and wear pink stilettos too.
Whatever kind of clothes you girls want to wear you can take advantage of the 50s movie star style face if youre sick of fake tan and purple lipshades. Classic beauty will never go out of fashion and can be adapted for summer as well.
Lets start with skin. Fake tan looks tacky. And real tan just makes people jealous. Normal or pale skin is great for the Grace Kelly look so foundation is a handy tool. Dainty women always whip out their compact and powder their nose, or alternatively you could always carry the miracle which is papier poudre with you for
emergencies. This is a step up from ordinary shine free paper. Its paper with powder. It costs little, is small and works wonders when you just rip off a sheet, wipe your face in a few seconds and youre ready.
Your face needs to be a blank canvas where you can make features of your eyes and lips. Go for red on the lips, without gloss for evening. Red lips can be slutty so you have to keep it a medium shade. Use a lipliner and fill in with plenty of lipstick.
In the 50s stars such as Audrey Hepburn kept eyeshadow to a minimum in favour of eyeliner. Use natural shades of shadow or none at all. Use black eyeliner to make eyes sharper, with plenty of well placed mascara. If you cant do it without clumping it up then use less! In the 50s apparently people didnt bother with eyeliner under the eye because they used so much on top, remember you dont want to look like Cleopatra.
To complete the look you may want to go bleach blonde, but remember there were brunette screen sirens too. Natalie Wood, Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren are some examples, and if youre blonde like Marilyn Monroe or Diana Dors never ever have darker roots showing.
The stars of the silver screen in the 1950s epitomised elegance and unobtainable beauty. If you dont feel beautiful then youre not going to have the air of sophisication which shows itself, so just act like youre a Hollywood princess and pretend for a night. This is a great look to go for if you have somewhere nice to go like a dinner or a dance, just dont forget the heels.
