| Book Review: Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody by Michael Gerber Kimberley If you ever get chance to read this book I hope I�m not the only one who�s left wondering �what the hell was that about?� I don�t mean that in a bad way though. It�s a good book with excellent humour and so long as you know the original Harry Potter it�s easy to appreciate where the comic parody escalates from. | the book Barry is in his early twenties and refuses to leave Hogwash in fear of turning into an adult, slightly Peter Pan? Hogwash is a mess and is threatened with closure, anyway Barry is sent away and with his friends Lon and Ermine begin an adventure to save the school and stop Lord Valumart�s evil plans for Barry Trotter the movie. I won�t say exactly what happens and spoil in for potential readers but it�s a good book. I haven�t actually worked out who it�s aimed at yet. A background knowledge is needed to understand some parts but then I think it works for people who weren�t fans of the original although they may find it tedious. Ok well I�ve confused myself, you may as well just ignore me because what do I know, I�m not a professional! So to sum up what I�ve just said in that rather pointless and confusing ramble it�s a good book, go read it! |
