| Remember 2003? Ned Join me on a trip back through the months of 2003, a year we all remember as giving us Nicole Kidmans noses Oscar, a war far away and the growing trend of Dancehall. Movies 2003 saw Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta Jones belting out Broadway numbers as Chicago murderesses whilst Julianne Moore, Meryl Streep |

| and Nicole Kidman gave Oscar worthy performances in The Hours. The Lord of the Rings and Matrix trilogies ended but we also got from Legally Blonde 2, Charlies Angels 2, Tomb Raider 2, 2 Fast 2 Furious and X-men 2, Terminator 3, American Wedding and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. However Pirates of the Caribbean was a | ||||||||||||||||
| welcome new film as was Ned Kelly, The Hulk, Kill Bill and the animation success of the year, Finding Nemo. And Christmas gave us sickly Love Actually and Elf to get everyone in the festive mood. Just recently Cold Mountain was released combining the acting talents of Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger and Jude Law with a cameo from Jack White who also wrote music for it. We also got news that Tim Burton is remaking Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, reviving a partnership which started over a decade ago. Music Last year was really the year for the likes of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Sean Paul and Christina Aguilera. David Sneddon and Tatu started the year well but by the end had faded away. |

| Pop Idol and Fame Academy 2 gave us more warbling one hit wonders. Madonna, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janes Addiction, Michelle Branch, Muse, Will Young, Alicia Keys, Victoria Beckham and Kylie all make a return with new records. The White Stripes continued to be big in 2003 but new kids in the charts were Evanescence, The Distillers, Alex Parks, Blazin Squad, Lisa Maffia and The Black Eyed Peas. The Darkness came from nothing to almost getting the Christmas number 1 despite claims that theyre nothing more than a good Queen tribute band. Madonna and Britney had their famous kiss and everyone forgot that Christina had done the same although she was remembered more for her nuns outfit in Edinburgh. | ||||||||||||||||

| News Well the big news event of 2003 was the war in Iraq, with loads of anti-war protests going on beforehand to no avail. Me, Tomety and others sat on our school field in Soham trying to work out which direction Iraq was in whilst military planes flew overhead on training flights. In November and December the papers never stopped talking about our home town but it all ended when the verdict of the Soham trial was announced. England won the Rugby World Cup on a rainy weekend in November, and people were still celebrating up until the end of December. There was also a royal baby, Big Brother 4, David Blaine in a box and Concorde retired. Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles made a comeback and Michael Jackson faced another child sex allegation. Harry Potter 5 hit the shelves in June and sexed up became the most overused word by British newspapers this year. |
