Celebrity Connections
Book Review: Private by Alison Jackson
Tomety
After the success of the BBC show Double Take, I think a second series was inevitable, but months later, BBC 2 is somewhat lacking in celebrities behaving badly.
Regulars on the show where Sven Goran erricson, the Royal family, the Beckhams and Madonna. The show premiered on 17th March of this year, and I thought it was excellent. The look-a-likes used were superb, and really made you wonder if David Beckham had been racked in to dance around in his undies. Most controversial at the time, were Camilla Parker-Bowels and Prince Harry, in a scene
mimicking what was in the papers at the time, concerning Harrys obsessive drinking.
As the series grew to an end, I wondered if we would be seeing more of the perfectly staged candid camera footage, but what I wasnt expecting was a book.
Released on the 6th November, the somewhat familiar cover hit the newspapers by poking fun at the Beckhams move to Spain.
Its just as good as the Tv programme, and Alison Jackson has done a brilliant job of photographing the look-a-likes. Among my favourites are, Tony and Cherie frolicking in the pool, Elton John and the Beckhams in bed, and the Queen watching horses mate.
The anecdotes from Ms Dynamite and the tabloids are also highly amusing.
There is however one thing missing I feel. Perhaps if the photos had accompanying captions, it could really trigger a laugh or two Never mind its excellent none the less.
On the other hand, there were a couple of pages that unnerved me. One shot of the late Princess Diana with Dodi in a mythical memory for want of a better sentence, bouncing a baby on her knee. All though theses could be seen as in bad taste, I think in a weird sorta way its quite sweet. Go buy the book, or wait for the January sales

For pure comedy value I give Allison Jackson: Private4 out of 5 demented chickens
