| Film Review: The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert Tomety Blurb: After a frantic phone call from his wife, Mitzi (Hugo Weaving) packs up his stilettos and boldly goes where no Drag Queen has gone before. | harshness of the desert and realise that the world still hasnt accepted them for who they are This is a brilliant brilliant film, which stands the test of time. Nearly 10 years old, Priscilla Queen of the desert still posses the ability to humour and inform audiences. My favourite way to see this film is with friends (preferable ones that have the same sense of humour as you). The campness of the characters is brilliant, but unlike many real life drag acts, still believable and not without their personal problems, whether it be Bernadettes bereavement over her beloved boyfriend Trumpet, Felicias quest for acceptance or Mitzis secret marriage and child! Guy Pearce (Time Machine, L.A Confidential), Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) and Terrence Stamp (Far from the madding crowd, The Hit) are all excellent and definitely deserve the recognition With the extravagant costumes and out of- this- world props, the girls are sure to put on a good show. The performances are hilarious, and in the end Drag reins supreme! I give The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert: 4 out of 5 demented chickens |
