| Our Oscar Predictions Tomety and Ned Welcome to the second part of our Oscars coverage As the lovely Sigourney Weaver announced the nominees on The 27th of January, we now have the full list of the main categories. Including Best Picture, Best Actress and Best Actor. But first, here is the official poster for the 76th Academy Awards As you can see the mood has obviously changed, and Im pretty sure the stars are going to take advantage of the fun celebration theme to grab a few headlines. After last years out break of war, the Oscars were thrown into predicaments whether to go a head or not, but with big starts such as Nicole Kidman and the Douglass supporting the ceremony, the event went a head. But this year's seems somewhat OTT and it reminds me of the MTV VMA Awards, dont you think? |

| Now, brace yourself readers because Ned and I have had a think, (Believe me, it took some doing) and here are our thoughts on the nominees. And now the part youve all been waiting for, the list for the 76th Annual Academy Awards 2004 Actor in a leading role: Johnny Depp- Pirates of the Caribbean, The Curse of the Black Pearl, Ben Kingsley - House of Sand and Fog, Jude Law - Cold Mountain, Bill Murray - Lost in Translation, Sean Penn - Mystic River Tomety: I really hope Johnny Depp picks up the Oscar for best actor, but I cant see it being very likely. Ned: This is Johnny Depps first ever Oscar nomination and as his role was comedic its unlikely that hell get it. Jude Law was a bit crap in Cold Mountain so he's out. Who Should Get It: Johnny Depp Who Will Get It: Sean Penn Actress in a leading role: Keisha Castle Hughes - Whale Rider, Diane Keaton - Somethings Gotta Give, Samantha Morton - In America, Charlize Theron - Monster, Naomi Watts - 21 Grams Tomety: I think Charlize Theron might win best actress. Ned: Diane Keatons unlikely to get it for her role cos it was a comedy. Charlize Theron has a good chance, the Academy love young actresses who make themselves uglier for films, Grace Kelly and Nicole Kidman have both won this award in the same way. Its a shame Nicole Kidman wasnt nominated this year. Who Should Get It: Keisha Castle-Hughes (bless her, shes just a little kid!) Who Will Get It: Charlize Theron Actor in a supporting role: Alec Baldwin- The Cooler, Benicio Del Toro - 21 Grams, Djimon Hounsou - In America, Tim Robbins - Mystic River, Ken Watanabe - The Last Samurai Tomety: Id also like to see Alec Baldwin be rewarded for his work in The Cooler. Ned: Im not really familiar with most of these films but I think maybe Alec Baldwin or Ken Watanabe might get it, cos theyve gotta give The Last Samurai something. Who Should Get It: Alec Baldwin Who Will Get It: Alec Baldwin/ Tim Robbins/ Ken Watanabe Actress in a supporting role: Shohreh Aghdashloo- House of Sand and Fog, Patricia Clarkson - Pieces of April, Marcia Gay Harden - Mystic River, Holly Hunter - Thirteen, Rene Zellweger- Cold Mountain Tomety: Rene Zellweger will get supporting actress, seeing as she lost last time around. Ned: Renee was great in Cold Mountain, she comes on screen practically carrying it under her arm. Who Should Get It: Renee Zellweger Who Will Get It: Renee Zellweger Best Picture: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Lost in Translation, Master and Commander: The Far side of the World, Mystic River, Seabiscuit Tomety: And Im guessing theres gonna be no competition for best picture, I think we all know Lord of the rings is gonna win..... Ned: The only film Ive ever seen where the whole cinema clapped at the end was Return of the King, and its likely itll win this award since its not like giving an Oscar to one film, its for the whole trilogy. Who Should Get It: Lord of the Rings Who Will Get It: Lord of the Rings For more information and other nominations check out www.oscars.com.
