| When I first saw this album advertised on a shopping web-site, I thought it was some quick way of republishing her current album, American Life. But after buying it on the 2nd January I was really surprised to find that most of the tracks have been remixed in a completely different way to which I would have guessed The tracks from American Life, (Nothing fails, Love Profusion, American life and Nobody knows me), with help from Jason Nevins have been grafted into semi rock tunes, and they really really work! The most successful being American Life and Love Profusion, the worst being Nobody Knows Me, as the words dont quite fit, which gives the song a bit of a wonky, awkward feel. We also get a previously unreleased song from Madonnas Bedtime Stories recording sessions, Track 7, Your Honesty, which hasnt been remixed as yet. (Also as a bonus), you get one of my favourites off the album, the live VMA performance where Madonna and Britney had their famous smooching session, complete with vocals from Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliot. Plus the tune from the well-known Jeans advert titled Into the Hollywood Groove, also featuring Missy Elliot. But after listening to the album, it leaves me wondering whats next for Madonnas ever experimenting sound? We have already had rapping (American Life), indie (Shanti/Ashtangi), foreign languages (Paradise) and many more Now her musical travels have taken us into rock, is there anything else the reigning Queen of pop can fiddle with? Definitely one of my favourite remix albums, and I shall be rewarding it with a well deserved 4 out of 5 demented chickens |
