Christmas passed by 3 months and the christmas lights were still on the house. Frankie was too busy to take them down. His wife would nag and nag, but he always found reasons to not take them down. He just didn't feel like it. There were better things to do. There always are.

Months passed and the lights were still on the house. Eventually, she gave up and quit picking at him about it. She found other things to nag about and after a while, she didn't even notice the lights anymore.

One day, Frankie got drunk. He wanted to do something really nice for his wife. There weren't a lot of things he could think to do. He wasn't a romantic man. He thought about getting her flowers, but he wanted to save that for when he got in trouble or needed to be really romantic. He thought about running a bath for her, but he didn't know when she would be home and he didn't think she would appreciate a cold bath. Unless it was grilled, he couldn't cook so a romantic meal by candle light was out too.

Frankie decided to take down the christmas lights, finally. He almost fell off the roof twice in the process, but once he landed on the back porch and the other time he managed to grab the gutter before falling off. It was a lot of hard work, taking all the lights down, but his honey was worth it. She came home when he was putting away the last of the lights.

"Why did you take all the lights down?" She asked.

"Because I love you," he slurred, fighting a losing battle with balance.

"But Christmas is next week," she said.

Frankie said a lot of four letter words after that and none of them were friendly. He had to put them all back up the next day, but that was okay. He loved her much. But this year, he was just going to leave them up.
