Atheism is basically the denial or lack of belief in God/Gods. The word itself "atheism" comes from the Greek prefix "a" meaning without and the Greak word theos which means deity. Therefore meaning without deity.
Atheists are steadfast in their beliefs and philosophies. Some believing that the concept in God at all is inconstistent. Wondering how a god who is all knowing and all powerful cannot be seen. Others feel that humans cannot even begin to comprehend the terms all knowing and all powerful therefore there would be no way of knowing for a fact that someone/thing such as that exists.
In ancient times, atheist were those who were different than the religious norm. The first christians were seen as atheist because they didnt support the belief in the Roman deities.. they were often misunderstood and considered immoral.
Just like many others, they question how there could be a God with all the horrible things that happen in peoples life. And why such a loving god would not protect his followers. |
