| Ritual |
| UNDER CONSTRUCTION Ritual is a complicated and yet entirely simple subject rolled into one. When you are just getting started on a magickal path it can be scarey and I think that is normal. We use rituals in our day to day lives though so often that we don't even really think about it. I mean a lot of us have "routines" such as wake up, shower, dress, eat. That in itself is a ritual. Every year many of use celebrate our birthdays. Maybe no in the exact same ways but similar. Gathering loved ones and the whole cake and icecream thing. Holidays with family.. all of these are rituals. They are the things we do that are almost automatic and generally although seeming to be involuntary are very imortant. My husband would probably die of shock to his system if he didn't get my "famous" cherry cheesecake every year! When you are dealing with magickal rituals especially at first there is nervousness and even sometimes fear especially if you are afraid of making a mistake. I remember when I had first began my journey on this path ~ Creating Sacred Space- I generally cleanse my working area and remove any negative vibrations that may have collected there. ~ Casting a Circle- Circles are cast as protection from outside influences and give you a containment field to hold energy raised until it is ready to be released. ~ Calling Quarters- You can call quarters for various reasons. I personally prefer to call elemental quarters for assistance but have been known to request their presence for protection or various favors. ~ Invoking divinity- I generally if not always request the presence of a deity/deitys sometimes just to honor them but other times to request assistance in one form or another. ~ Stating purpose- This is an extremely important thing to me in ritual. To be concrete in what you are wanting. This sets the stage for the rest of your ritual. ~ Working magick- This would also be the time to celebrate a sabbat, The working magick part is pretty self explanitory for now. ~ Raising energy- Raising energy is what gives your ritual the kick that it needs in order to have the momentum to go anywhere other than your head. ~ Cakes and Ale- This is the time to ground yourself after ritual and to honor divinity. This is an important step for me because I usually need this part in order to sleep later. ~ Thanking Divinity- I always thank the deity/deitys I have chosen and invite them to stay on or go as they please. ~ Releasing the Quarters- This step is done to ensure you arent holding unnecessary energy when it isn't needed. You send this energy back so it can be used elsewhere and then again by you at a later date. You can always give permission to stay of course. ~ Opening the Circle- I open the circle so that I may move freely about the room again. Opening is also a way of aknowledging the completion of the ritual. It also helps to keep things orderly anyways:) ~ Grounding and Centering- I normally have to ground and center after ritual even after cakes and ale. I generally do this by connecting to Earth in a tree like fashion . This gets rid of any excess energy you may be carrying around with you. |
