Episode 1.01 - Pilot Recap
The Point Pleasant state beach is wall to wall with visitors. Children, parents and a few life guards scurry about.

Paula Hargrove is relaxing on the beach when Terry Burke, a lifeguard, runs up, "Quit it, you're getting me wet!" she complains. Paula gets up, frustrated and heads to her boyfriend, Jesse Parker. Jesse is also a lifeguard and Terry's best friend. But there's something more going on between Terry and Paula.

Judy Kramer is working her shift at the local gas station when she notices the wind picking up. A dark and violent storm suddenly blows in and forces everyone off the beach and the Point Pleasant boardwalk. The town suddenly loses all electricity. "Black out," Judy comments.

Jesse and Terry are making sure people are cleared from the beach when suddenly Jesse sees something floating off-shore. He takes off into the water while Terry and Paula watch with concern.

When Jesse swims out, he finds Christina, floating in the water. He carries her to shore and performs mouth-to-mouth. Christina coughs up water and is luckily alive.

Jesse drives the unconscious Christina to Dr. Ben Kramer's house, Judy's father. Dr. Kramer sends Jesse home while he inspects Christina.

Later, in a candlelit room, the Christina rests. Judy wanders the house and discovers the Christina's backpack. Judy removes an ornate box from the bag, at the same time, the candles blow out in Christina's room. The box opens with a click and suddenly the entire town lights up again. There's something more to that box than Judy knows.

Terry drops Paula off at her home. "Only Paula could watch her boyfriend pull a macho move like that and be pissed," Terry tells her. Terry lays it on strong and tells Paula he can help her dry off. Paula coldly rejects his advances and slams the car door behind her.

The Kramers gather in the kitchen. The angelic Christina wanders upon them with a dazed look, "Where am I?" Judy tells her she's in "Point Pleasant."

Two well dressed men meet in a sunny park. One man is known as Boyd, who works for a force far more sinister than can be imagined. The other man is Kingston, the man who raised Christina. Boyd tells Kingston that he's done his job and it's time for the world to take its toll on Christina. "But she doesn't understand, her emotions, what they can do," Kingston pleads. Boyd listens apathetically. It's out of Kingston's hands now, Christina's real father is in control now.

Christina and the Kramers gather to try and figure out what to do with Christina. Christina is unsure where her father might be and her mother has been out of her life since she was a child.

Judy meets Christina in the bedroom where Christina is looking through her box. Christina says Point Pleasant seems like a nice place to visit, but Judy smiles and says "It sucks. Everyone is in everyone's business." Then Christina comes upon a picture of Judy's deceased sister, Isabelle. Her sister passed away several years ago in a surfing accident. The Jesse appears at the door, he's come to check up on Christina. Perhaps something else has brought him here.

Terry meets Paula at her house again. Paula tells Terry that there's something weird about the day, something in the air. Terry rolls his eyes and continues his quest to be with Paula. Paula plays hard-to-get, disrobes and then dives in the pool, Terry follows after. The two meet in the middle where they share a passionate kiss.

Jesse lies awake in bed as Paula enters. She begins kissing Jesse as he tells her, "You're on fire tonight." The two roll over and suddenly, Paula has turned into Christina! Jesse, unfazed, continues to kiss Christina. "Jesse, I want you toKILL ME," Christina whispers. Suddenly, Jesse wakes up; confusedit was all a dream.

The next morning, Ben does another quick check up on Christina. Judy asks if, maybe, Christina could stay for a few days. Christina tells the Kramers that they can call Harland, her father's assistant. Dr. Kramer looks deep into Christina's right eye and he notices a strange mark. Dr. Kramer says it doesn't look like any birthmark he's ever seen before.

Christina hides in the bathroom, and stares closely at the mark in her eye. Why had Kingston told her it was just a birthmark?

Christina slips away to a payphone where she calls Harland. She tells him that she wants to take this time to figure out her past and that she's not coming home until she finds her mother. Harland is uneasy about her decision.

Judy and Christina run into Jesse on the boardwalk. Judy sees the two have something to talk about and she heads off to the bumper cars. As Christina and Jesse walk, she asks him, "Do you ever think things happen for a reason?" Jesse bashfully says no and invites Christina to a beach party that night as he walks away.

That night, Terry runs into Paula. Paula gets defensive and says, "Forget it, I don't know what I was on last night. I would never do anything to hurt Jesse." Terry walks away with an angered look in his eye.

The party is in full swing when Christina meets Jesse. They stand in awkward silence before they discuss a scar on Jesse's neck. When he was younger, he fell on a fence and the wound stopped his heart. Paula then skips in and introduces herself, jealously reads clear in Christina's eyes. Suddenly the fire erupts and Christina quickly walks away.

Terry confronts Jesse about Christina, "You should go for it man." Jesse tells him that he's with Paula. Then Terry lays into him about Paula, that she's a "head case" and "she's hot, but she's trash." Jesse pushes Terry against a car and then hits him with a punch. Paula and some guys break the fight up.

Back at home, Christina watches the party from a window. At the same time, Jesse and Paula are at a gas station. Christina presses her hand against the window, tears streaming down her eyes. Gasoline begins to pour out of Jesse's truck, but Jesse and Paula don't notice. In the garage of the gas station, a welder's torch is spewing sparks to the ground. The gasoline snakes towards the sparks.

Jesse exits the car and sees the fuel and the path it's on. "Get out of the car!" Jesse yells to Paula! But Paula panics and her seat belt won't come off. Jesse opens the door and helps her pull it off. With seconds to spare, Jesse pulls Paula from the car. The fire races up the fuel path and into the car, blowing it up. Christina jerks away from the window, shocked, knowing that perhaps she's done something horrible.

The next day, Christina rides her bike to Ocean Grove, a town close to Point Pleasant. And old picture of her mother had the name Ocean Grove penciled on the back and she thinks it will help her find her mother.

When she arrives at the church, light streams in through the windows and guide Christina to a pew where she finds a mark carved in the railing that resembles the one in her eye. Harland is waiting in the darkness and tells Christina that she is on the right path; however, he "has a job to do." Outside, a mysterious dark cloud beats against a stain glass window. Without warning, Harland blesses Christina and then begins to strangle her! Before he can complete his "job," a swarm of wasps crash through the stained glass window and ultimately killing him.

Christina returns to the Kramers, who are waiting for Christina. They have happily decided to let Christina stay. Christina seems awkward, but knows it's the best thing to dofor now
