Michael Lane and Michele Faulk Lane Update

Michele and her piano duo partner, Dr. William Wilder, performed George Gerschwin’s "Rhapsody in Blue" for the Summer Concert Series. They have performed frequently in the New Orleans area. Michele has also received a grant for developing a program to introduce secondary school students to the music of American Composers to be presented later this Spring.

Mike is an environmental engineer who is currently developing an advanced oxidation system to handle hazardous organic waste. The initial system has received a patent and Mike and his partner, Todd Foret are developing further innovations. One of the systems has just finished performance trials and is online at the Port of Catoosa near Tulsa where it has eliminated the hazardous waste discharges which normally occur during barge washdown. The water is processed, filtered and re-used saving the barge companies significant expense and improving the water quality of the river.

Mike and Michele have been living in the New Orleans area for over 20 years.

 Traveling Duo

We took a trip last May to London and Paris. Our husbands were not interested in touring, so we ventured out on our own. We did all the tourist things including a side trip to Stonehenge. We were in Paris right before the World Cup, so it was very busy. Mrs. Goodman’s French class did come in handy, but Sharon was not impressed with my command of the French language. We are already planning on doing this again sometime! Carol Bryant Bluethman and Sharon Dickey Schriner

Darian De Bolt Update

I am hoping that my wife, Helen, and I will be back from Turkey and Greece in time to attend the reunion. Just a bit of news. I retired at the rank of Captain after slightly over twenty years of service with Norman Police Dept. The same year I retired I finished my Ph.D. in philosophy at O.U. Since then I have been Adjunct Assistant Professor of Philosophy at O.U. and Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at the University of Central Oklahoma. Besides teaching a wide range of courses in my specialty, ethics, and the history of philosophy, my research activities include exploring various ethical dilemmas associated with law enforcement and translating Mediaeval Byzantine philosophical works from the Greek into English. To keep the body active, I engage in fencing.

Jerry Cott Update

I’ve been at National Institute of Mental Health the last eight years doing mental health research. I’m preparing for a local move over to the new NIH National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the next week or two. Quite a political hotbed, but the change of scenery should be fun.

Diana Mehring Update

After leaving Oklahoma in 1967 and travelling east to Boston and then to the Big Apple (New York City), I finally landed in the outback of Australia in 1983 as a missionary among tribal Aboriginal people. I lived in a tent for almost two years, learned to speak desert language, helped teach Bible literacy and then married an Aboriginal pastor and evangelist. At the age of 42 I had our daughter, Lydia, who is now almost 11 years old. We have pastored a number of churches, started a few, taught Christian leadership training, traveled all around Australia several times, and have lived in a variety of remote desert areas. We are now moving to Canberra, the capital of Australia where I will be teaching in a Bible College and working as National Leadership Development Coordinator for the Christian and Missionary Alliance. I also lecture in leadership to Christians from developing countries at centres in Singapore and Hawaii. We regularly eat kangaroo, goanna and emu, plus a lot of other bush food. We were recently in Ponca City, after not seeing America for almost 8 years. It was good to see the place, show my daughter where I went to school and see the few family members that are left. I am on e-mail, the address is [email protected] I would love to hear from anybody there and I hope you have a wonderful reunion. I won't be able to come back for it, but all the best and may God bless you.
