As previously requested, here's some band history.
Poff was formed in the late 2001 by the vocalist(Sal), Drummer(Julius) and Lead guitarist(Dom). Julius approached Sal and Dom with the idea of starting a band, and the first attempt at concieving a local band was made there and then, with Weiliang on Rythm and Desmond on Bass. However, the original Poff fell apart shortly after, with problems arising with regards to the Bass player. Julius and Weiliang left to play with another band, and the band experienced it's first hiatus.
After their try with the other band, Julius and Weiliang decided that their tastes in music lay not with the genre that their current band was dishing out. They then approached Dom and Sal after the hiatus to try and reform Poff. Sal roped in his classmate from secondary school, Mervyn, to try out bass.
How was the name 'Poff' decided upon ? Simply by shorting the words 'pissed' and 'off'. Hence the decision that all of our songs were somewhat... poffy, with Sal's being very lovelorn, Julius' being generally angsty and self-loathing and with Dom's being very 'awakening'. As a band, we each have our own set of influences and musical tastes, but when we get together to play, we find that we cannot define our music to any one genre. Even if you were to ask us what's the closest band we sound like, we'd be most likely to greet you with a simple shoulder-shrug and a curt 'i don't know'.
Poffrock was born, and Poff currently has quite a line up of stage-ready originals, and several more in the works. We have played in quite a number of gigs and currently remain ready and willing to gain more exposure and make new friends through performing.
To date, the band is currently recording their 4-track EP and we will be looking forward to releasing it at a pre-planned launch in a rough 2 or 3 months' time. Do look out for it.
