| Tuesday, December 28 Susanna had a routine checkup today. The doctor continues to be very pleased with how well she is doing! Her weight is now 6lbs 10oz and she has grown 3/4 of an inch since birth! She gained nearly a pound in one week! However, because of her preemie status, the doctor is strongly advising that we keep her away from crowds for another month or possibly longer. He's really concerned with the flu season being in full force. Sarah has already had her flu shot and now we will be getting ours soon since we now qualify with a preemie in the house. Sunday December 26 Susanna continues to get stronger in her feeding abilities which means that she is able to take in more milk! We're anxious for her next doctor's visit (Tuesday) to see how much weight she has gained. Susanna is being kind to us in that though we feed her two or three times at night she is pretty quiet and peaceful when she wakes up. This helps both our nerves as well as Sarah's sleep! Be sure to check back after Tuesday to see how her doctor appointment went! Monday December 20 Today was Susanna's first visit with her pediatrician. This was mainly a time for him to get caught up on her chart and have a chance to talk with us as well. All in all, the appointment was fairly routine. The major news to pass on is that Susanna now weighs 5lbs and 14oz! After a really good supper she's a six pound baby! ;o) Saturday December 18 Susanna was born six weeks early. She spent the first 16 days of her life in the NICU but comes home TODAY! She has surpassed her birth weight by two ounces, she's maintaining her temperature, and she's eating really well! Though she's out of the hosptial, her immune system still needs to develop, so we have to keep her home and away from people for at least a month which will put her at full term. We sure are excited to have her home! |
