A true friend
Why do you always want to see Only the bad side of me The good things I do Even if only a few Don't they count too
Haven't I been a true friend Or perhaps I have never known what that meant Is a true friend always there Someone who does care A shoulder to lean on When everything else is gone
The warmth of a friend Who will not pretend Is like the hot summer sun on your face Dizzying, mesmirizing, puts you in a daze The strength of a gentle embrace The feeling of joy when receiving his praise
Someone who will listen Who will share his wisdom The treasures that he bestows A river of thoughts that flows and flows You both take a dive
Trusting him with your life Not knowing where it ends What dangers lie behind the bends But now the ending seems near Which is my one and only fear To lose something so precious to me
The time had dawned to see That all he wants is to be free Loose the shackles that bind Is all he has in mind
Friendship can be like a prison Perhaps I just don't listen And makes him feel bound Following him too much around
Every day the fear inside grows But he never knows The pain of falling Secretly calling For him to stay near
How can I make it clear I need oh so much His warm hugs and gentle touch |
