It was getting close to Halloween, kids are supplying themselves with eggs and toilet papers. The scent of candies is in every house. Kid’s sweet tooth are now aching, yearning for the day where they can indulge themselves with pounds and pounds of assorted candies.
Even the teens and adults start to get giddy around this time. Many places to go to and have fun. Too many costume parties to attend, just too much of everything, even crime. Who would think that the night of ghost and goblins would also be the night of crime and punishment?
OCTOBER 29.
Somehow nothing big is happening around the city. Too few crimes were being committed and things are starting to worry the young hero. Raptor has been patrolling the city day and night with nothing happening. He should be happy that no crime befalls this calm city, but he’s starting to itch for some excitement.
He continued his patrol and happen to come upon a suspicious figure crawling into a second story window of a house.
“Finally some action,” Raptor thought to himself as he started to creep up towards the shadowy figure.
What luck, Raptor caught the figure by surprise. He was so proud of himself that he lowered his defenses and eased up on his grip. A big mistake to make when you don’t know whom your opponent is. Suddenly Raptor caught himself flying off the shadowy figure after a devastating kick.
The two men are now both up on their feet and looking right at each other. A burst of laughter overwhelmed each figure as they begin to see who the other person was.
It was JC climbing into his window after that night’s patrol. The two parted and the night came to a close.
OCTOBER 30.
Another quiet night follows. Remembering the rush that he had encountered from the spar he had JC decided to dawn the Sparrow suit and try to catch Raptor by surprise. He thought to himself what better place for him to catch Raptor by surprise than the “Nest”.
Sparrow readied himself and started the long hike to the “Nest”. He got there rather early so he had a long night’s wait ahead of himself. It was almost midnight and yet no sighting of Raptor, then suddenly a quiet shadow soared from above.
There was no mistaking who the figure was. Sparrow then climbed a tree near by. He stood there waiting for the Raptor to fly close enough. Just then Raptor glided down pass Sparrow, and the action began.
Sparrow jumped down to surprise the weary hero. Raptor drew out his fighting sticks and after seeing the so familiar suit he dropped them. Sparrow signaled Raptor to attack and with that, Raptor kicked up his weapons and the sparring beagan.
OCTOBER 31.
The two heroes knew that their game must soon end but neither one resented the idea of easing up.When neither one can any longer continue, an overwhelming silence covered the two weary heroes.
That morning kids readied their costumes, parents prepared the candies as the night of ghouls and ghost is about to begin. Just as kids and parents prepare, two clever-minded criminals also prepare for their “big break.”
The time has come for the night to fall. Out of all the parties one stood out and was the envy of the whole city. It was the gathering of both rich and famous.
Each person arriving at the party was dressed in amazing and expensive costumes. Two costumed characters enter the room and a quiet stillness followed. The two criminals dressed in hero’s clothing were invited in. They couldn’t believe what treatment received from such famous people.
Suddenly the impostor Raptor fired a gun that sent the crowd in a panic. No one could leave the building because the fake Sparrow armed with an automatic riffle blocked his or her path.
Then from the crowed yelled a voice and it seemed to shake the room. The crowed parted to let this man in a Warlock’s costume through. Each stride he took enveloped the room in an eerie silence and growing darkness. He stood in font of the fake Raptor and by his gaze alone sent the imposter in flight. The crowed drew back in amazement and fear. The fake Sparrow began to fire at the mysterious Warlock.
But the bullets froze before impact could be attained. The fake Sparrow saw the man’s face grow in anger, only the Warlock’s mask prevented anyone from seeing his face. The man lifted the two criminals with his now known powers. With that last look the three vanished.
Somewhere in a place of darkness the three figures reappear. The Warlock talked and the others listened. He was going to grant the two with the skills and talent of the heroes they emulated. But it was only to last on this night. Their newfound abilities would be bestowed to them permanently if the real heroes were to perish. The evil Raptor and Sparrow decided that they were going to keep their powers no matter what.
They decided to fight the other’s twin, evil Raptor against Sparrow and evil Sparrow fighting Raptor. The Warlock told the evil hero where they would find their adversary and a fight will soon begin. Each evil hero found their target and began their assault.
Raptor was caught unprepared but after seeing the suit he prepared himself for another Spar. They waged their battle but one was going in for the kill.
Sparrow was somewhat expecting an attack from Raptor since he knew that this crimeless night would be a lure for another spar. AS soon as he noticed Raptor, or who he thought was Raptor, he gave a pursuit.
Jumping from rooftop to rooftop until he turned and delivered a kick. It was now 11 o’clock and this game must last one more hour since the evil halves of each criminal was not about to give up their new found abilities.
Raptor assailant was attacking relentlessly. The battle has already been going on for about 30 minutes and Raptor was getting weary. Evil Sparrow on the other hand had limitless stamina, a gift from the Warlock. Raptor then took out his fighting sticks and began to counter the assault. This was a worthless effort since the evil Sparrow was as fast as when the battle started. Raptor finally noticed the way his “partner” was attacking and noticed through the mask’s eyeholes and mouth opening that this person was not JC.
Sparrow saw the evil Raptor take that kick as if it were nothing. It seemed that his gift from the Warlock was great strength. Sparrow readied himself for the spar. He countered each of evil Raptor’s attack. Evil Raptor was now enraged and tried to deliver a flying kick only to be countered, Sparrow had grabbed evil Raptor by the foot and with a twist sent the attacker flying to a wall. Again evil Raptor attacked Sparrow furiously, then Sparrow noticed by how they fought that this person whom he was “fighting” could not be the real Raptor since he lacked the finesse and attitude of his friend.
It was now 11:45 and the two evil fighters knew that their time was growing to an end. It was their final moments so this battle must end now. Somehow each evil fighter seemed to be controlled as they did the same moves at the same time even though they could not see each other. Their attack was now fast and furious the only thing the two heroes could do was evade the attack since their weary bodies could no longer continue to fight.
The two heroes ran trying to last for a few more minutes not knowing they were going to cross each other’s path. When they met face to face they took their fighting stance and prepared. Each saw the others fatigue and realized it was the real thing. The two stood back to back ready for their last battle. Time grew closer and the criminals are now desperate they wanted to kill the heroes and nothing was going to stop them. 11:55 the last five minutes was drawing to a close. The criminal raced to the heroes and their fierce final duel began.
In the confusion of the battle the evil heroes and the real heroes lost track of which their friend was so they battled their counterpart. The minutes came and went and the time was in its last seconds. In the distance one could hear the chime of a clock. When the twelfth chime rings the battle would be over.
1st Chime
The very being of the evil fighters grew tearing their suits but increasing their power. The Warlock needed just a few more seconds to apply the final killing blow.
2nd Chime
Raptor and Sparrow now out of breath and ready to loose prepared for they knew this upcoming attack was for the kill.
3rd Chime
The transformation was almost over and the criminals began a demonic laugh.
4th Chime
The two heroes survey their surroundings in search of means to escape.
5th Chime
The transformation is complete as the creatures dashed with amazing speed for the kill.
6th Chime
The two heroes fell to the ground evading the deathblow, as if someone or something pushed them.
7th Chime
The two creatures gain composure and again attacked.
8th Chime
The two heroes tried to dodge but were still hit.
9th Chime
Bloodied, bruised, and tired the two heroes still stood seeing what was about to come their way.
10th Chime
The creatures merge into one and formed a powerful blast.
11th Chime
The blast screamed through the night air plowing every obstacle in its path. Too wide to avoid and too fast to react to, the heroes closed their eyes.
12th Chime
Everything was now quiet. The stillness was eerie nothing but the whisper of the wind could be heard. Then something broke the silence. Heavy breathing of the criminals. Then a light flash as the Warlock appeared. His gazed fixed on the criminals and his voice grew loud as he said.............
“How could you not defeat them. You had the skills and the power. YOU FOOLS now I condemn you in eternal darkness. Then he looks on the tired heroes, now I must finish this.”
A light flashed and the Warlock was gone and only the two bruised, bloodied, and tired heroes remained. They collapse and their one and a half nightmarish ordeal was over. The night of Ghouls, Goblins, Witches, Warlock and Crime was over as well. Though there is always next year.,
