| Welcome to "The Spotlight" This month's Poetry Prompt is the Two Objects Poem. Here's what you do: Choose two, unlike, randomly selected objects. It can be anything. Two objects from nature, two manmade objects, one manmade, one natural - your choice. Then, write a descriptive poem (non-narrative, don't tell a story) intertwining the characteristics of both objects. The idea is basically to get you writing, but you never know what it will develop into. Here is one of mine: Palm and Eagle The palm trees' feathers are an emerald spread, the eagle leaves coconuts in its span. The beaks of the palm jut brown shadows that canopy the fronds of bird's limbs. When winds flutter the jade plumes of palm wings, the eagle stretches her brown foliage to flee. -Andrea Jazwiecki 2005 Read more of my poetry. |
