The Call

Morning or night, so very difficult to tell
Only a loud bell like ringing is what I hear
Stumbling along I ran to answer the doorbell
No one there, just darkness, now feeling fear

Feeling clammy and nervous, I hear it again
The bell's constant ringing just will not stop
Can't shut it off, my head feels such a pain
Afraid now, maybe I should phone a cop

I sigh with relief, for I see the ringing culprit
The telephone, ringing noisily on the table
Alarmed and uncertain, I finally answered it
Thinking, no matter what, I have to stay stable

Sadness is relayed by Mom, who doesn't pretend
As I listen to what she says, I just want to scream
She has to go to a funeral for my brother's friend
Which woke me up out of my horrible sad dream

Walking in The Woods

Along a fall-laden path we all go for a walk
Listening to the wind and crunching of leaves
Cedar trees weaving back and forth as we talk
A message received, that nature never deceives

Feel the splendid peace that nature can provide
Such a relief to toss our man made worries aside
While watching the forest creatures run and hide
Enjoy some happiness and get back a little pride

Logs covered with moss lay on the forest's floor
So quiet and untroubled allowing us time to think
Discover some healing if we don't shut the door
By opening up to the forest to find life's magic link

We enjoy watching the leaves fall on the wood's floor
While feelings come over us which can't be explained
For tromping through the bush walking is never a bore
Peace was discovered even on the days that it rained
